No where near 5 grand new.

My 46" Toshiba cost £1800 with stand and 5 year warrenty.

You can pick up 50"+ rear projection sets with full dolby digital surround and 100hz picture for around £2000 now. On the budget side 40" Widescreen rear projection sets are selling for around £1300 new. Toshiba and Sony sell 60" sets and Thompson will soon be selling a 72" set.

I sold my 3 year old 41" Sony for £500, I woudn't pay more than £700 for the Panasonic.

I've got the chance of a secondhand 52 inch TV (Panasonic I think) It will be fully re - furbished, and as far as I'm aware, is the biggest stand alone TV available.

What I'd like to find out is what the going rate for one of these is before I buy it. I won't be buying it to keep as my lounge isn't big enough (:rolleyes:::D) it will be to sell on. I know they are 4 to 5 k new, but this is about 3 years old.

Any replies greatly accepted :)

If you are thinking of getting a big screen, why don't you go for a projector and a drop down screen. You can get some very good bits of kit now for £1500+ that you can watch without having to be in total darkness. The projectors themselves are about the same size at a couple of telephone directories stacked on top of one another.

Are you talking about a rear projection or Plasma screen ?

I dont think that Panasonic did a 52" Plasma thats why I assumed it was RP.

Be very careful if it is a Plasma. They are getting better but the screens do become dull over time. I recall that the main stream sets are usually down to 50% of there original picture brightness after 5 years

Modern screens such as Pioneers go for 8yrs before being 50% of their original brightness... and if you're a technophile, are you still going to have it in 8yrs ? Nah
