Boss has lent me his RS5

It's ridiculous - 478bhp!

Anyone else got one of these?

john banks 06 December 2014 03:13 PM

Has he tuned it or have they uprated the new ones beyond 450HP they used to be?

I think they are 450 std, he's had it mapped / tuned - the nutter!

john banks 06 December 2014 05:25 PM

They have so much traction and that nice rear diff needs a bit more to make it dance :)

mjharper 06 December 2014 05:46 PM

The exhaust note when knocking it to sport mode is pretty cool too!

DemonDave 06 December 2014 06:27 PM

Valves open all the time on the sport exhaust here ! :)

lol - what's scary is how effortless it is, 0 - whoops! in no time yet feels completely in control and I just know it could go much further without it breaking a sweat. Very impressive machine

The most amazing thing is how cool your boss must be to lend you that car!!

100% agree on that - I've been there less than two months as well!

Matteeboy 06 December 2014 09:07 PM

On a far more modest scale, I was the only one (aged 22) allowed to drive the bosses Merc. That was in a company of 15ish people.

I'd done my IAM course but other than that, I still have no idea why!

mjharper 06 December 2014 09:09 PM

Crazy bosses!

Carnut 06 December 2014 10:47 PM

So what would you have. A RS4 a RS5 or the S4 in the vid, plus the car in the vid is auto, think the manual is slightly faster and it's the new RS4 with launch control. For 20k you would get a early RS4, for the same money S4 you would get a newer car that would be a sleeper that you could de tune to standard map and get a cheaper fuel bill.
P.s are the RS4 and RS5 the same performance wise?

Audi S4 v Audi RS4. Does Supercharging Rule? - /C…:

You can chip the S no problem - but the RS has the full package with brakes and suspension etc - I will prob wait for the rs3 saloon before I change mine. The RS adds elements you cannot get from "chipping" - straight line yes chipping wins

He wanted a new car and he thought that you'd stack it? :wonder: :D

Yeah the S4 or S5 which we see a fair few of and driven, to me don't look or feel really different inside or out to a normal A4/A5 sportline. They just go alot faster.

The RS on the otherhand looks and feels like a RS, its hard to pinpoint but it just seems more focused and hardcore. Their are lots of subtle differences to the looks and the way they feel to drive. I know this as I want a RS4 avant to replace my Golf with, so naturally looked at the S4 as an alternative as they are a lot more common and cheaper, but it just doesn't win it with me. Its like full fat and semi skimmed :D

Lovely looking and sounding car the RS5, just let down by the engine's performance and the vehicle's weight IMO.
Although they are 450bhp (if it's lucky), they don't handle particularly well and straight line poke isn't that great compared to it's direct competition.
