Rechargeable Batteries...?
I've got a landline cordless phone where the 2 handsets take 2 AAA NIMH batteries and charge on their bases. The original ones I got out have 600 mAh on them but I've just noticed the new ones I bought say 750 mAh. Does that make much of a difference?
I had a google but I didn't find much discussion on it. Am I right in thinking the mAh is just the capacity to store charge? Cheers |
Yep
They will just last 25% longer |
Get Sanyo Eneloop.

The bigger the mAh number, the longer they hold charge; but they also self discharge quicker when not in use.
Annsman make the best rechargeables IMO. |
Mine last seemingly forever off their charging base!

They have the best charge retention, although that may not be a criteria in a cordless phone which will presumably be returned to base regularly. |
As long as its NiMH It'll be fine.
I wouldn't use low self-discharge batteries that come pre-charged like Eneloops as keeping them on a constant charge shorten's their life...which is what can happen everytime you stick the phone on the base station....its all down to how clever the charging circuit is. Panasonic phones seem OK as are some of the old BT ones (Siemens IIRC), Motorolas aren't - they just trickle charge all the time (so they eat normal NIMHs too). |
Thanks for the info guys. The ones I got are duracell ones, they seem to be working well and now my phone isn't bombing out after 10 minute convos :thumb:
