Fuel filler door catch.

Been a while since I visited the site and I know this request has seemingly been covered in the past, but read on. ;-))

I am looking for the name and part number for the little plastic catch, which incorporates a single leaf-spring, fits on the inside of the fuel filler door on a 1999 Classic wagon.

Hope someone can help please.

I would say it's number 11 from the list shown as 3 in a circle on the diagram but it's hard to make out.

I got one of these from MB developments on here, if it's the catch that goes on the opposite side of the hing. Can't remember how much but it was a cheap as chips.

Thanks for this FMJ, as you say, hard to tell from the diagram. I am hoping someone here has managed to find one recently and can point me in the right direction. ;-))

Thanks Dave, You don't happen the have the invoice with the part number on?

Just to be clear, it is the catch that is fitted to the door not the retracting button within the fuel filler space. If this is the one you bought can you send me a link to MB Developments please.

Cheers.

It was in 2012 when I asked the question on here. I didnt get or need the part number. I just sent matt at MB developments what I was looking for and he had one. He advertises on the parts for sale section on here. You will need to pm him.

Where are you based?

Fiasco 01 December 2014 11:45 AM

Thanks Dave I will look him up.

I am near Tonbridge in Kent. ;-))

I'll check to see if I have one. I got a new filler flap but I'm not sure if there's one on it. If there is you can have it for the price of posting and a pint

Just seen you have a wagon. If someone can confirm the catch is the same as a 2000 saloon then I have one here!

If you want it let me know.

Fiasco 01 December 2014 05:51 PM

Hi Dave
Sorry for the pause. Been looking for a comparison photo of the two models and the fuel door looks the same to me on both.

Can you send me a photo of the catch you have so that I can see if it looks the same as mine. Wonders of modern technology and all that. ;-))

BTW Is it new?

My own MY1999 is without this bit, too (ergo the remote door-release lever from within the car is currently 'unemployed' lol). :(

So does it just slide onto the door's protruding 90-deg. metal tang thing, then -- so that said remote-release will then work?!

Yes it does......they are a bit fragile around the bit where the spring fits to the plastic. Hence my need for a replacement. ;-))

Seems I may have started a marketplace here......

- Does the actual metal spring bit come separate to the plastic body bit then - i.e. are they two separate Subaru items, as regards parts numbers?

Or do the two bits come as an assembled single module i.e. one Subaru part no.?

£2.07 + VAT.

(Can't believe it - knowing main stealers, I assumed it would've been £30+)
