Ditto!

So depressing for me to admit im a subaru owner nowadays. I'll admit I went through a stage of wanting to name my car a while ago, thankfully I settled for 'subaru Impreza'

The amount of shocking posts I see on that page on a daily basis chokes me up sometimes:(

LSherratt 29 November 2014 09:57 AM

It will certainly want me looking back at it after it's been parked up... With a grenade in my hand about to throw.

Blue by You 29 November 2014 10:13 AM

Makes me laugh at guys wanting to fall on their swords because of what somebody else does to a car.
Sure it's a piece of trash, but who cares, it doesn't reflect on what I drive.

prob is imprezas are dirt cheap these days and still offer good bang for buck but people want to chav them up with stickers and glitter

huzzy1 29 November 2014 11:40 AM

Those dials on the passenger pillar. Bet they come in handy.

To me the worst thing about it is the spec isn't bad, Bilstiens, SC36, Alcatek, fresh engine, it would have been a very nice prospect and probably worth in the region of £6k if he'd not driven it through the local Halfrauds and down to the tattooist.

Totally shagged a nice car with the tat and tats. :cuckoo:

Exactly!

Does make me laugh when people say they're glad they're out of the scene because of what someone does to their car!

What car have you gone for that hasn't be modified by some fool anyway?

Mercedes? Better get rid of it...

Lambo? hmm..

Or maybe you've bought a Veyron? Nobody without taste would ever modify a Veyron..

That's it, I'm riding a bike, nobody has ever modified a bike.. Actually, just remembered I saw a kid with a playing card in his spokes the other day!

The forum troll attention seeking again.

Whilst I agree with you in principle, the trouble is these aren't one-offs. There is a trend developing of hideously modified Imprezas with owners who are a million miles away from the people who started the scene all those years ago now!

Maybe it's unfair, but I feel the scene is moving in a tacky and distasteful direction and you know what people are like for labelling and stereotyping!

joz8968 29 November 2014 07:02 PM

This ongoing desecration of the marque has got to stop!

I, for one, am all for means-testing potential Impreza buyers from here on in...

If you happen to possess knuckles that hang at or beyond knee-height and/or possess a brow low or lower than Lou Ferrigno's, then you're not allowed anywhere near one.

And this also goes for those who insist on employing the phrase, "would of..."

:D

I would agree about the stereotyping if the thread was about poor driving behaviour as that can reflect badly on a marque, e.g. Audi drivers do this or BMW drivers drive like that, we've all seen similar comments.
However I fail to see how the way someone 'dresses' their car can reflect on me or my car in any way. Anyone looking at my car will see a fairly boring looking (in some eyes) WRC blue STi. I don't see how that relates to what Joe Bloggs does by way of tacky decoration.
It may not be to my taste but it can't possibly make me ashamed to own the car I choose. It would be like saying I don't like my house because the guy down the road painted his house blue.

That's an interesting observation. On the RA site we are increasingly getting members looking to put cars back to standard & prospective owners looking for standard examples.

I think that's pretty consistent with most marques. The special cars end up being worth more as standard and originality becomes the key sought after trait.

The problem are all the UK Turbo 2000s and older less well cared for WRX imports out there. These are the cars falling into the hands of the uncultured MaccyD car park meet types!

Some lovely examples on here recently where classics are being restored. usually long term members who have a passion for the brand and not some newbie who buys a £800 1993 classic WRX and starts threads of "how can I get 500bhp" and "what dump valve" :(

Give it another 5-10years and the restored/mint cars will be popping up everywhere on here, and the modded tat will have all died a horrible death(scrap yard/ broken for parts)!!

Apparently the seller has finally found a sucker, only took 4 months.

For all those who've not seen it, this turd is coming to a show/event near you as people on fartbook say its "mint"

See how it blends into its natural surroundings of the council estate so well

Nice that they've sprayed that crap on there to permanently ruin it instead of throwing stickers at it....
