Can you use either type of front drop links?
I've seen it said that if you fit the alloy arms on the wagon, you have to fit the Z shaped (sort of) drop links instead of the 8 shaped ones.
Is this right? The Whiteline and similar ones look as though they are supplied with bolts that could be put through from either side. They look far stronger than the Z ones, so I'd rather use them when I fit the arms if I can. Can anyone confirm? |

The 8 shape ones depending on what car need a certain amount of washers to fit. Ask cdf on here they have them nice items too. Pm'd you too about your shocks. :thumb:

Surely those 8 shaped ones come with all the bits needed? What's the advantage to running the two opposing ball joint type ones instead? Will reply to your PM now! |
Different sized bolts are used so the crush tubes in the bushes are different diameter. They also sit at a different angle so the rose jointed ones allow the correct angle the normal ones won't. Unless of course you space them correctly but then you still need to ensure the bolt holes are the right size.
Just make sure you buy one for the type of arms you have and dont make it difficult! :) |
There is a difference in compliance is what whiteline say so the wire ones are just a little be diet as far as I can tell. Should come with all necessary software to install. Good whiteline installation on them an you'll see. Thanks for the reply let me know what happens mate cheers Marc

I looked into this and wasn't comfortable with the 8 shapes ones on alloy arms as it still causes the bush to angle off. I went for the solid Z shaped ones instead and they look to sit more original looking.
Best thing is, look what's on your car from stock and go for that style. |

I actually thought that most Newage cars had alloy, which confused me with how widespread the 8 style drop links seem to be. Busta, cheers for your input. Sounds like a major reason for the difference. |
8 style can be used on alloy as long as they are the right ones. It's just the bolt hole size that's different and you have to compensate with a spacer. But most people put the spacer in the wrong place or install them wrong which leads to issues.

personally we would always recommend the correct fitment for your arm type........
and if its for a road car then we have high quality replacement items that will perform equally well and be more cost effective we also supply Whiteline, SuperPro, Powerflex, etc. as required |
