Modified insurance advice needed.
Hello,
This is a real newbie textbook post. I have the opportunity to get a 2000 turbo which is running at 370-420 depending on the boost. I'm awaiting a list of the mods as it a case of digging through old paperwork. In great shape for a 98 plate. Only needs a little paint touch up on roof in gutter rail where roof rack was (I can see rusty colour coming through tiny crack in paint in) and stickers removed. I've never had a modified insurance before and will need a second car as a daily driver as my pockets aren't that deep! :( I know I can only use my NCB on one car and will need two different polices. Any ideas on what is the best way to tackle this? Also what if I can't get a list of mods? Many thanks in advance. |
Speak with the listed insurers on here. Most will mirror your bonus.

Cheers infected just what I was hoping. Do mods bump it up much?
|
I can definitely recommend Greenlight. Fantastic Insurance company.

Just shop around Barry. People will recommend companies that have served them well, but they may not be the best for you. Take names and contact them, its the best way to find out :thumb:
btw I use Chris Knott :) |
Thanks I really appreciate the input. Will check out the above companies.

Is that a proven 370-420bhp
|
That's what I have been told. Haven't been through any paper work yet, but there is dynos to prove it for high and low boost I'm led to believe. Was wondering about the insurance before I make a decision.

I've been in the same boat buddy and my Impreza is on a second policy at a reasonable cost as I have no ncb on the second policy. My car is about to be running a fair few mods which I've declared to the insurers.
I'm in a low crime area, full clean license, 34 etc. What mods is the car running too produce those numbers? |
Just on a visual I can tell you front rear struts, oz rims, guessing 3-4 inch straight through exhaust no cats, think it's got all the jdm sti goodies, intercooler moved to the front, looks like one air intake is in f/s wheel arch other intake i couldn't really trace (two chrome pipes going on different directions) & big turbo with boost adjustment in arm rest. I'm still waiting the list of mods before I can confirm anything.

I guess it will depend on your post code, license (points/crashes if you have any) and the final mod list to state the obvious.
I've just gone through Adrian Flux on here and got a really good price with all my mods declared. I'd recommend you give them a call once you know the spec as they were good at getting me a price. |
Thanks will try them as well.

The biggest question with us (Keith Michaels) would be your previous driving experience.
If you've had high powered/performance cars before we may be able to quote. |
No currently got mk6 jetta dirty diesel 140bhp.
|
The specialists on here my struggle with no experience. (we certainly would)
|
I knew there would be a spanner in the works.
Even on limited mileage plan or multi car? |
Unfortunately so.
A late 300's/early 400's Classic will be a very quick car, so insurers will want to see some experience before quoting. That applies to us anyway, there might be a broker on here who aren't as fussed. |
Understandable - Thanks for the input. Can't wait to have fun making call when get mod list.
|
I tried Adrian flux for a quote this time and were in the range considering the mods, cheaper than my renewal so cant complain

Can I get quotes without being specific to the mods (like just say Turbo, Springs, Brakes... and not GReddy turbo T.., bilstein shocks, wilwood calipers)? |
yes I've a fair list of different parts so its just what has been changed not make model etc a lot easier that type and size etc

If you'd like to PM me some contact details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back if you like. Regards, Dan. |
Gary i'm looking to purchase a 2nd car
Would Keith Michaels do anything for the second car, as far as my on claims goes?
