My Classic WRX Import
Just over a year ago I joined the forum and posted pictures of my new purchase and was made to feel very welcome.
Shortly after buying the car it broke down and needed a new engine which really was depressing. After months of staying in, saving money and hard work it has finally paid off! A big thank you to RGS Motorsport in Wellingborough for all their hard work. Would highly recommend!!! So I thought I would start a new thread to show my progress so far and to continue to share the progress over the coming months. I can't wait to get back into the forum to look at ideas and tips. When I first bought the car http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...989/null-1.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...989/null-2.jpg Painted the wheels http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...989/null-3.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...989/null-5.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...989/null-7.jpg Then it broke down 😭 http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...989/null-8.jpg Comments and suggestions always welcome 😊 |
Apologies if pictures too big or anything

Nice mate looks loads better with standard lights, and respraying the alloys white was a nice move too. :thumb:

Thanks, just need to change the sidelights etc to match now.
Few more pictures of the engine change: http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...F427C70B_1.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...60E69167_1.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...FC1DAFCA63.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...B9FCE8F3C3.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...34D8470521.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...2F934EDD70.jpg http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...9924BE8909.png http://i827.photobucket.com/albums/z...A9154F3CE1.jpg |
Oh you putting it back from crystal clear to original?
May i ask what kind of price for engine? Was just thinking if mine ever goes, will prob get rebuilt |
Back to original, or black crystal all lights. Unsure at the moment.
The block was £2200 delivered. Plus about £3500 for the rebuild with clutch, trailer costs, cam belt kit, oil pump etc. Plus around £2000 for the MOT (welding, tyres and brake upgrade) May seem a lot of money but well worth it to have a strong engine, solid chassis and upgraded brakes |
So you spent £7700 + price of car?
|
Yeah just short of £10,000 overall. People will call me mad but to me it's like having a brand new Impreza with uprated parts so I can push for power with better reliability. To me that's £10,000 well spent, to the mrs Thats a house deposit! I just didn't want to give up on it, I've scrapped too many cars in the past, I just couldn't do it to this car.
|
Dam man, that is insane , i love my car but wouldn't spend that much on it, be stripped and buy a p1 lol
You must love that car If i was going to pay 10k i would have bought this that Matt built, loved it https://www.scoobynet.com/full-cars-...-breaking.html |
Yeah I do love it, I didn't want to spend 5 or 6 grand on a car and it still blow up. Besides i spent £1000 on fuel in the first month I owned it, so I'm used to it costing me a lot of money.

Nice to see another classic saved, but you have deeper pockets than me, what's next on the plan
|
FMIC, fuel pump, remap. Tidy the bodywork and interior up. Then start looking at 6 speed gearbox. Moving on to bigger turbo, injectors, remap again. The usual lol
