Wheel advice for Hawkeye wanted - standard arches, lowered

Hi guys,

I have done some research but am just as confused as when I first started!

I have an urban grey Hawkeye STI on Eibach lowering springs - not sure how low but I'd say a modest 25-30mm

I think I'd prefer 17" over 18" due to ride comfort but don't want it to limit me too much on wheel choice. I'm looking at black/anthracite, preferably with polished lip (Rota GT3?) - but again open to inspiration.

Whenever I have bought wheels for previous cars I have always managed to screw-up on the offset and they don't look any better than OEM wheels :o

I know that to get the best results I need the arches rolling, but am very nervous about that and want to keep costs down.

What would be the best fit to fill my standard arches and have you any suggestions for wheel/tyre combos please?

Any help would be much appreciated.

OK, so after yet more research and browsing, I'm torn between the 17x8 ET45 (on 225/45R17) or 18x8.5 ET48 (on 235/40R18) Rota Force (still unsure about the difference between Force, D-Force, G-Force, etc!) http://www.wheeldude.com/wdg/_detail.php?pic=5303

So with no arch mods, camber adj or coilovers (only lowering springs) will I be safe with the 18's on the rear arches? If I go for the 'safer' 17" option, will they clear the calipers?

Please help! It's driving me mad! :freak3:

Great shots in your photobucket and thanks for helping out :) Will look into these.

The thing that worries me is that although I'm about the same height as you, I haven't the uprated shocks so perhaps there is more give and I am more susceptible to rear loading. Also, ideally wanted to push it to 18x8.5J

Whilst doing my research, I have come across the need on occasions for a geo set-up. What things make this necessary?

Np m8.

With my setup there is plenty of room for tyres even if i wanted to drop it more so no worries.Only reason to go with 8,5j is if you wanna fit 245/40 tyres.

Each time you hit pot hole or similar your geo might change a bit.....it is advised to do it once or more per year.
