headlight options

Hi guys,

I'm having a pickle with my headlights and cant work out what to do...you could say, I'm having a mass debate...

My current blobeye headlights are de tango'd and I've painted them black inside. The picture below is after I finished cleaning the lens, which only seems to have lasted a couple of months, now they are quite foggy again and seem to constantly getting condensation. http://i1153.photobucket.com/albums/...psb337faa5.jpg

I'm in two minds what to do, either to take them fully apart, clean the condensation out and seal them back up and every couple of months to clear the fogginess off the lens.
Other option is to buy new headlights but they are pretty expensive and then I would have to go through the same process of taking them apart, detango etc.

Other option which I think most people will say no to is angel eyes, I've actually seen these on a few a Subaru blob eyes and I think they can look alright! I don't know if they are easy to fit or even if I can get them to fit/work with a HID xenon kit?? http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTc1WDEwMj...T9zdw/$_86.JPG

What do people think ??

Did you use fresh sealant when joining the headlamp case/lens back together? I used black windscreen sealer and haven't had any condensation issues at all. If sealed ok you could try putting some silica gel moisture absorbent sachets in there for a while.

I did use new sealant, I might take them apart and reseal again to see if that fixes the issue.

When I did mine for fitting projectors, I resealed the glass to the rear with the old, softened sealant, then went round the whole thing with some of this:http://www.caravan-components.co.uk/...-in-400ml-Tube, which is a non-setting mastic. You run a bead into the seal areas, then wipe off excess with a paper towel etc soaked in white spirit.

But as mentioned above, it's important to get rid of all the moisture first: take them off and dry inside, or suspend freshly dried sacs of silica gel inside them overnight, and make sure all bulb access hatches are properly seated.

Above all, avoid those angel eyes.
A decent HID kit in yours will make quite a difference, since yours uses single filament bulbs. Buy decent, not cheap ebay tat, and go for NO MORE THAN 5000K....if you prefer to see, not just be seen.;)

whatever you do dont fit those chav dog sh1t ebay headlights.
sell them to an sioc member and re-seal your oem ones.

Just to clarify, I have no purchased any angel eyes! They are just some pics on google I found! I currently have a great HID kit and I love them. I just wondered whilst I'm sorting them out should I change the look. I will try clearing the moisture and see how it goes resealing!

if you are fitting the ebay lights to change the look, dont forget to fit a wrc sticker kit and fake roof vent and then give the car a silly name.:lol1:

They aren't actually for eBay, they are from a website. Not that makes a difference to you. But you disliking them is fine. I find it cute that you care so much for someone you don't know. For that, I thank you.

What hid kit have u got? Where from etc?

Matt_STi 04 November 2014 06:36 PM

No I wanted opinions which you gave yours then you went off topic.
The HID was on the car when I brought it, I think he got them from Aztec performance?
Other than that, not sure sorry

Personally I would re seal your units. De tangoed looks better than the angel led type
