my99 loom run without immobiliser unit
Need some advice on not using the immobiliser,
I have a v5 engine in my Astra and I'm just now looking at powering the ECU loom up, I'm only using the bare minimum Subaru loom so engine loom to ECU and Clocks, Main relay is still in place, fuel pumps are run separately... Powering it up today I checked the diagnostics and I'm getting error 53 immobiliser, I've not actually tried starting it as I still need a couple more parts... I haven't got the immobiliser control unit or ignition barrel/key, I know I could get the immobiliser unit and key but I would rather not run the Subaru immobiliser as it will have an aftermarket one fitted later. So I'm just doing some investigation on my options, so my initial thoughts are that the ICM sends the signal to the ECU on pins c16 an c22, if that is correct can I get the ECU modified to bypass the check ? ECU I have is Ecutek E3 Ian |
I think my easiest option is to get an immobiliser module and key for now and hide somewhere, so I will pick one up from Paul at CCA later in the week,
Would still be interested in other options should anyone know of any... |
What is the part number of the ecu .... 22611?? ??????
If you have a UK/European ecu then it will expect a signal from an immobiliser to enable it, but a JDM ecu will not If its a UK then you need to find the input pin and then the ecu should run bob |

Then its 22611AE801 which is the ecu from Model year 99, it superseded AE800 which had a boost control bug in it. The "E3" is not a description if you see what I mean
If you can find the pin you only need to ground it I think, I have the info somewhere but its temporarily being elusive ! You can log it now, its not true OBD though. So if you know where the relevant wiring goes and to what ecu pin you should be able to enable it without fitting immobiliser units, the ecu doesn't "talk" to that as such cheers bob |
Got a little further with this, I got hold of a JDM ecu AE480 so no longer have the immobiliser issue, I then swapped pins C5 & C6 over, didn't worry about A1 to A21 as fuel pumps run independently,
but then had code 11 crank sensor, so looking at the crank sensor the metal part was loose and spinning, so got a new well 2nd hand one which was apparently good but still getting code 11, resistance on the sensor was 1.9k ohms which in the manual I have states 1-4k so I then checked earths and wiring back to ecu which all seemed ok except where it goes into the plug (sensor end) was a bit hard, so I took the terminals out and soldered some new wires and used a piece of shielded cable from the old ABS loom and wired back to ECU but still the same, On both the new cable and original resistance to the block was 0 so I don't think it's an earth issue, Ran out of time at this point so next weekend I think I have to try another sensor and maybe whip the covers off and make sure the pick ups on the pulley are intact... And I will check each wire from the ecu again as this loom is in my astra and has been stripped but I'm 99% sure it's as per wiring diagram. I suppose I should also consider the ECU is faulty... Just to reopen this thread, did you get to the bottom of this as currently trying to do exactly the same thing to my VW bug track toy

No I got it to work with an import ECU but with UK ECU I ended up having to use the immobiliser unit and put the chip into my Vauxhall key, also although I don't use an ignition key switch I still had to place the barrel in side the antenna as it acts as a ground plane, weirdly I tried using various other metal and metal objects and nothing worked other than a barrel, even my Vauxhall barrel worked Ian |
Well I'm going to be using an Apexi FC ecu in mine which is the equivalent of an import/JDM ecu. Just need to swap the cam and crank wires at the ecu.
I've cut the immobiliser box out of my loom now, 2 wires go to connector B136 (blue) pins 16 and 22 but all wiring diagrams I've got don't list what they're used for on the ecu |
16 & 22 from 136 go to Immobiliser unit into B141 pins 1 & 6, the ECU waits for a signal from the immobiliser unit on these, I think the signal is in wave form,
if you are using an import or equivalent ECU then you should be able to ignore them, |
Which wiring diagrams have you got Ian? Mine don't list it?

Damn that's what I've been looking out for on eBay to help. All online wiring diagrams are for imports which don't have immobilisers and the ecu pinouts don't seem to match.
Main bits I wanted wiring for is, Power supplies from the fuse boxes Immobiliser (as you posted above) Engine ecu Headlights Wipers If you can help with any of the above that's great cheers Ian....or if you fancy selling your book then let me know :lol1: |

Hello. I know it's an one year old information,but I' m in trouble by seeking information on ECU pins of MY99 Subaru Impreza turbo UK2000. My B136 connector is blue and looks alike on Your scan picture. I need to know an oxygen sensor pin place. Please help me by scanning that page,or just write me the number of oxygen sensor signal pin. Thanx a lot in advance!
