Difficult insurance

Next problem I have encountered - insurance. Due to a really unfortunate few months I ended up with a DR30 and an in10 (banks fault) on my license - both of which are coming to the 5 year mark in April - can anyone recommend a place to insure the JDM prodrive Bug under these circumstances.

I tried Adrian flux this morning who said even they can't do it, and advised me that they could
Do it for 2K if it was a UK model. I don't wanna lose this car and don't mind paying more for the premium, I really don't wanna wait until April to buy a car either.

Any advice please?

Lloyd

IN10 stays in place for 4 years, so you can clear that one if it's nearing 5.
The DR30 stays for 11 years, so you have some waiting for that one to clear.

Can I ask how old you are?
Have you got Thatcham Cat 1 Alarm & Immobiliser installed? Tracker? Some insurers also give discounts for Car Cameras, so one of those might be worth it.
Things to bring premiums down:
Keep your annual mileage down,
don't drive to work,
offer to get a black box installed,
dont smoke,

there may be more...

So many things effect insurance premiums, it's like playing a game with them every year.

I was told by the insurance company and research online also suggests that despite how long the convictions stay on my license - the insurance companies wish to know about them for five years only, looks like I may have to wait for 6 months and lose the car :(

Try aviva mate, I had a IN,TS,and SP, in my first year of subaru ownership, think I paid 800 ish fully comp on a uk2000, now I'm in a 97 jdm at 680 fully comp and my 99 got wrote off last year,I'm 28 by the way

can you not park it up for 6 months while you wait?

Not really because I still need a car to get around in, maybe a company would insure it for a month at a time or maybe I could try and become a names driver on another policy

That's called Fronting and is considered fraud. Be very careful if you decide to go down that route.

How about getting a £100 banger to drive around in for 6 months, whilst the scooby stays garaged?
