V1 classic top entry turbo to front entry turbo conversion
 
Doing this as opposed to swapping to a later manifold to future proof my setup, have done a few searches and have an idea of what needs to be done to carry this out, If anyone could clarify a few things or have done it themselves?
- New age power steering setup: does this need to be done from the rack unions up?
- 20mm inlet manifold spacers
- V3 silicone intake: whats the best way of connecting the solid plastic breathers up? or whatever?

Anything else I need? Want to get everyting bought before I start the job.

Lots you need to think about. Since I don't know your car, I might ask questions that are irrelevant.

Power steering pump is a straight swap I "think". Only the outlet from the pump to the rack is high pressure. Make sure you get the reservoir and pipe work though.

With 20mm spacers you may need to extend wiring to the ICV/TPS.

FMIC or TMIC? Maf or Mafless? Front entry cars use a link pipe from the intake hose to the maf tube, you'll need that or something like the Zero/Sports offering. You'll most likely need to extend the wiring for the Maf. TMIC you'll need the V3 airbox assembly, and most likely the maf sensor, as I don't think the early maf will mount to the later air box.

Mafless and FMIC, then ignore the above paragraph apart from the wiring.

Breathers, bin them off and fit a catch can, or plumb them into inlet pipe. Choice is yours. You'll need to bin the solid pipes anyway, since they don't run to the right place.

2 and 3 are the breathers. One of then from the crankcase and the other is the heads that are joined under the inlet manifold.

1 is the iscv feed.

If you bin them and fit a catch can, you'll have to blank the ports on the inlet pipe.

Need a bit more info from you really, mate.

Thanks for the info. I run a front mount and mafless. So fitting a catch can will solve the breather problem.

Things starting to look a bit clearer now!

Just got some carl davey 20mm inlet spacers but they only have 4 bolt holes in them, rather than 6?? hows that gonna work?

There's only 4 bolts on each side that hold the manifold to the cylinder head. :thumb:

Catch can on mine is mounted on the N/S suspension turret. Excuse the cheap hose used, I'd rather cut £2 stuff than a £30 length of silicon hose.

Ah right, I was'nt sure having looked at a picture of an original gasket.

I think I will do the catch can mod, it seems easy enough and would be rude not to with the inlet manifold off.

I did one last year for a customer, Also did a newage top feed injector conversion with parallel fuel rail mod and catch tank, I also opted for newage coil pack conversion too

newage power steering pump
silicone intake hose
catch tank
you have to alter the wiring on the throttle body as your going from 4 pin to 3 pin TPS as the V1 body doesn't fit the later manifold.
You'll also need the water cross over pipes too

Have you actually changed the manifold to a later spec there?

I am only spacing the V1 manifold to allow the turbo inlet underneath rather than changing the IM. Do you think I will still need the cross over pipe? Is this the one that the coolant temperature sensor screws into?

Yeah just pulled the whole lot and converted it rather than lift the manifold

If you're just spacing you manifold then you should be ok with your std water crossover pipe (yes in answer to your question, the one that has the sensors screwed into it.
