Why a sti replica, in what respect are you making it a sti rep.....

blackvenom 24 October 2014 01:34 PM

Want to start with the arches, will cost you more than you think to create a replicater, just enjoy the car now and then buy a sti

stevegti2 25 October 2014 09:19 AM

cost is not a issue im going to respray the whole car anyway and ill do that myself as she is pretty rough replica in the sense of looks. i like the v5 look clean and subtle

are the arches wider or are you refering to the rust ..

As above mate, you'll end up spending a fortune, but it's your money :D and if that's what makes you happy then good luck to you.:thumb:

Presumably you got it nice and cheap, the arches can be quite a big job though so I'd have a good poke around in the boot before you start, there is a thread on here posted by F1 fan showing just how bad they can be, might be worth a look before you start cutting any metal out.:thumb:

The arches are indeed a complete pig. I thought I'd cut out and repair the little bubble that was showing on mine and it turned into 3 weekends of serious cutting and welding from the outer arch skin, almost right round the edge of the inner skin, up inside the strut tower, all the way down to the very bottom of the skirt behind the bumper and finally the two corners at the bottom of the boot. I have some photos somewhere, I'll try to get them posted up later.

so i got the car up on the ramp today and was impressed with how rust free it was :luxhello: also impressed with the roomyness underneath looks eaiser to work on than i thought it would be and then i got the pry bar out

brakes all round are shot so new ones have been ordered

rear diff bishes and axle mounts are way worn changing hard feels like your being kicked in the back so they have been ordered too

found some oil leaks one is off a power steering pipe and one is somewere on the front looks like engine oil
