Fuel filter socks

Hi all, I recently brought back a fuel pump assembly from the US containing the anti surge tupperware box.

I lifted my stock assembly out today which is fitted with an swrd 225 lph pump and the (very small) sock is fitted "in line" with the pump meaning my tupperware won't fit!

From looking at pictures it seems the spec-c/usdm socks are attached to the pumps with with a 9th degrees elbow so the box will fit.

Does anybody know if a warlbro/other brand pump would be more suitable or is no aftermarket socks are available?

I'll post pics tomorrow to hopefully make this thread make more sense...

I have a brand new one from a walbro. You can have, as I was adviced not to fit it as they can suck shut and cause fuel pick up issues. But it's yours if needed.

Thanks Maydew, but I don't think so. I think I need the sock to come from the pump on a closer to 90degrees angle.

Thanks Athame1, any chance of a photo before wasting your time?

I did find the following, which comes with a 90degrees elbow - but I need to verify whether it'll fit the SWRD pumps!

Some pics of what it is I'm looking at:

Note the white elbow tube going into the box.

My pump:

No elbow.

You could do with finding the original as aftermarket ones are not really preferred when upgrading pump.

No you need an OEM sock :) Had the same problem with the RCM kit I bought, was a royal PITA getting a tidy seal on the inlet/sock. I expected better for the money !

Thanks team.

Any place I can order an oem sock? Otherwise is it a part number I can buy separately from subaru?

Athame that looks more like the right shape!

Would you PM me your PayPal and however much it is you want for it? I know I'd rather an Oem one but until I find one this will hopefully suit the interim.

No monies needed. Pm your address and I'll post it to you. :thumb:

What a gentleman!

As said in the PM, at least let me cover postage :)

bustaMOVEs 21 October 2014 03:58 PM

There is good fellas among us.
I'd have charged him an arm and a leg :D

Fonzey 21 October 2014 04:40 PM

He refuses to even let me pay for a stamp, what a hero!

bustaMOVEs 21 October 2014 06:52 PM

Tbh, I even had that with someone with some bolts for some seats or something (think they was for the Clio sport tbh) and wouldn't even let me pay for postage.
Good to know that there are some guys about.

Not who's going to donate me a 6 speed box?

Fonzey 21 October 2014 07:10 PM

I will.

You just need to pay me the £10k for the STI that's bolted to it.

bustaMOVEs 21 October 2014 07:14 PM

Free postage though :D

Bumpppp :)

Guys I'm in desperate need of help, I bought a new 340 fuel pump for the spec c the sock supplied fits the fuel pump but is not the right shape / size etc .... I wanted to fit the standard oe sock but it's slightly loose where it fits to the pump :(

I've had all weekend to think this through and the only thing I could come up with was to put a small sleeve of heat shrink round the pump entry But I've just spoken to the company that supply's the fuel resistant heat shrink and they don't recommend it been submerged in fuel so I'm stuck !!!

Any thoughts or comments at this stage would be great as I'm well and truly stuck :(

You can see the small piece of black heat shrink round the pump entry, with this in place the sock fits fine but they won't recommend it submerged in fuel :(

A mini jubilee clip or mini spring clips similar to the ones on the coolant hoses. Some are very small.

Get some Viton heat shrink, that's petrol proof, use it on F1 fuel systems.

I did look into this but once the sock goes on there is no room for a jubile clip or simular :(

crazyspeedfreakz 01 August 2016 06:50 PM
