who's already gone 4k? (TV)

looked at this on Friday... http://www.johnlewis.com/lg-55ub850v...ew-hd/p1455277

good price and awesome picture.

had been looking at bigger screen samsung (not 4k though).. http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-dvd-...95618-pdt.html

great price.

But after looking at the two sets above, the LG picture quality made the Samsung look out of date.

I've always had Samsung.. but could easily be moved over to LG now I've seen how good they are on colours and picture clarity.

Anyone got 4k and see advantages of it.. even though there's no 4k out there.. (properly out there)

I've got one in my bedroom. I went for the series 6 samsung 40" 4k. The picture is pretty gd, the problem I think with it at the moment is that there isn't much to show it off in terms of brodcasts. The smart hub is gd on the samsung with the apps. I think time will tell, nice if sky would 4k stuff

isn't netflix 4k?

jonc 19 October 2014 05:58 PM

Is there any point to 4K? Are you going to notice the difference between 4K and 1080p at typical viewing distances of 8ft to 12ft. There is a point of diminishing return since the eye can only see so much detail at a given distance.

Only some is 4k as far as I'm aware. I'm tempted to buy a 4k tv but when the proper content is out they will drop in price.

b3nmw 19 October 2014 08:16 PM

It does look better than full hd. Netflix has some 4k stuff but is hardly anything

salsa-king 19 October 2014 08:46 PM

4k, the tv give a forced upscale so you notice a difference over HD anyway.. plus in a year or so when stuff starts coming through in 4k.. you will already be able to receive it.
?
The thing is.. when is the right time to buy technology?

b3nmw 19 October 2014 09:03 PM

True

Im actually looking for a new TV now (kid smashed my samsung 6 series latest with a dam Wii controller!) so just awaiting the insurance to come through - but dont think i will bother with this first gen 4K TV

I can pick up a really decent 55 - 60" TV for around £1k now, i just cant see the Content for a 4K TV and certainly this generation of consoles wont be using the 4K stuff so for me it would be like the 3D function use it a couple of times and very rarely again

P1Fanatic 22 October 2014 07:55 PM

Just wait for 8K :)

Apple went 5k

Don't cruxify me.

jura11 23 October 2014 12:13 PM

I'm thinking about the 4k monitor, but still most of the apps which I'm using they're still don't support 4k resolution and due this for me waste of money, maybe later on when apps will support 4k then I will upgrade, until then my good old dual monitor setup Dell U2410 is still enough for my needs

Thanks,Jura
