IMPREZA FOR SALE - 2003 Engine Tuner 550bhp (Hardly used)

I bought this car about a year ago from Steve Paynter (SteveP 360 on here). Steve had done a lot of work to the car, including interior, suspension and engine work (which was carried out by Alan & Martin Jeffries of Engine Tuner). Here is a link to the thread that details all the work that Steve carried out :

https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...5r-billet.html

I had been looking around for the right car for quite a while and had viewed a lot of cars that looked and sounded great in their advert, but left a lot to be desired in the flesh. I'm quite finicky when it comes to cars so wanted to persevere and buy the right one. This one was actually better than I thought the advert presented it and I didn't take long to make my mind up to buy it.

Shortly after buying the car, one of the engine parts failed and I had to replace the full engine, adding an oil cooler and a few other bits at the same time. This cost me in the region of £9k and is now (motor wise) better than when I bought her. I wanted the best of everything and took the car back to Engine Tuner to have all the work carried out as they knew the car and (in my opinion) are one of the best around.

Alan and Martin did an excellent job of building the motor and Alan himself ran the car in for me. Since getting her back, I have only done about 120 miles. The reason for this is a serious lack of time due to work commitments (and a few other toys).

Here is the spec - please feel free to ask any questions and I will do my best to answer them. Alan or Martin Jeffries have also said that they would be happy to answer any more technical questions that I struggle with :

Although the car is over 10 years old, it's only really the shell & chassis that's this age - pretty much everything else is new.

She really is in immaculate condition and is lovely to drive. A lot of cars with this type of power are a bit of a pig to drive on the road and very on/off when it comes to power delivery. My mum has driven it a number of times (she's 72) and actually loves it (I turn the boost down to 1 bar for her though !)

Thanks for looking and I am confident in saying that she is one of the finest examples for her age that you will find.

Apologies, but I can't seem to upload any photos. Until I figure it out, please go to the eBay advert to view photos :

item number 291266166614

I'm looking for £17k for the car - this is what I paid for her last year and I have fitted a brand new engine & internals, oil cooler and a few other bits (at a cost of around £9k). I'm pretty firm on this price.

Thanks

Oliver.

Superb.

Great advert and fair price.

I honestly wish I could buy this and 6 months ago probably would have done.

What a car!

jazzyjembreaze 13 October 2014 10:25 PM

I believe it threw a rod ( quote me if I wrong )

Thanks for the comments - she really is a lovely car. Anybody that has met Steve Paynter will know how meticulous he is with his cars.

Yes, Jazzy's right - she threw a rod. Alan specced a different make of rods for the rebuild and added an oil cooler as a safety precaution too.

Naturally, I can't offer any kind of guarantees with this, but I'm happy to say that everything said about this car is correct.
The original I beam rod failed, and of course there is no warranty from the makers. Everything built into the new block is spot on.
You certainly couldn't build this for anywhere near the money, and I'd like to think somebody will pick this one up and really enjoy it.

Testament to the car when a top reputable engine builder comes out and speaks!!

From my personal view if ET have built it, then second to none!

My old 500/500 Prodrive classic is still doing the rounds 6/7 years after build👌

Thanks Alan

sorry to see her go really, but I'll still have the Hawkeye to keep me entertained.

Out of interest, I did a few rolling starts against a mate's GTR R35 (Lichfield Stage 1 mapped to appx 580bhp) - one from 30mph, one from 50mph and one from 70mph. All done on private land of course !

The Scooby won all 3 - convincingly.

Make that 300kg as I was in the Scooby ! :north:

To be honest, I thought the gear changes would have given the GTR the advantage, but they didn't seem to make much of a difference.
