Couple of Blobeye owner questions, sidelight LEDs and headlamp washer jets?
 

First question:

Anybody with a blob made the move to LED front side-lights?

If so is there a likelihood that these ones will be too long to fit?

Second question

Anyone own or else have seen a 2003-2005 blob that has headlamp washer jets?

I ask because my car WAS a JDM 'bug' that had OEM HID lamps, bub no headlamp washer jets. I recently had the blobeye facelift done and opted to buy OEM JDM blob headlamps. Again the 2005 car they came from had no wash jets.

I have just fitted some LED sidelight bulbs but they were smaller than those in your link. Saying that they cost £2 posed.
Can't comment on the headlight washers, though doesn't the hawkeye have headlight washers?

I've never bought LED sidelights but both my blobeyes had them fitted by the previous owners and both sets became faulty (flashing),I've removed them for this reason and wouldn't bother.
Mines a 2003 sti with hid's and doesn't have headlight washers and to be honest I can't recall ever seeing them on a blob

i think the failures are from the cheapo and halfords ones, the kind in the link i posted are decent, just wonder how much space there is in the lamp housing

It's a bitch to change the bulbs so i only wanna have to do it once :D

I've had lots of different LED sidelights fitted to various cars for the last 8 years. Most of them have ended up being either horribly blue in their white temperature, so they look chavvy, or only lasting a couple of months before dying or going faulty.

However, a couple of weeks ago I fitted some Osram 501 LED's to my classic Impreza and am really impressed. The colour (4000K) looks just right alongside my headlights (Osram Nightbreaker H4's) and I'm hoping that being a properly branded product from a known light bulb manufacturer means that they'll be long lasting. They certainly look well made - little things like the nice little diffuser over the LED's so they don't obviously look like a LED and that they work, no matter which way round they're plugged in (unlike most LED's which are polarity sensitive) makes me think they've probably been engineered well.

Not cheap mind - £14.50 for a pair on for the 4000K variant. The other colour temperatures are cheaper, but I know they'll be too blue for my liking.

Anyway - I may not have had them long, but I get the feeling they'll last, and I've just ordered another pair for my other half's car (which currently has eBay special LED's that have lasted about 6 months, but are now doing a 'disco' effect and flickering on/off randomly).
