Talk to me about Blobeye ARB upgrades....
Been doing a bit of reading on ARB upgrades and I think I'd like to go 22mm rear on the Wagon.
I'm not sure what the stock front is on my car? Unfortunately I can't see any Newage 22mm bars for sale on here. Most seem to be 24mm so just want to make sure I'm not missing something? I read a fair few posts saying that 24mm made the car a bit too skittish. |

Car came with the prodrive springs and the 18's and the roll bar massivly improved the feeling and turn in etc. more a personal preference. (do have bar set to softest setting) |
Eibach's RB320 (newage) offering was a 22mm adjustable number if memory serves works well on its stiffest setting ;)

22mm definitely sounds good to me for a daily driver. 27mm sounds a bit crazy but fair play if you're enjoying it :)

I went cdf 22 front and 24 rear. Nothing's skittish about the handling at all. I'd be worried about the set up, if it made it tail happy.

Yeah I agree my 27mm rear is a bit OTT. (set to softest is equivalent to 26mm) I had intended to go for the 24mm but the seller could not find the 24mm and offered the 27mm at same price. I thought if I don't like it I can sell it.
Also 22mm on front on hardest setting to compensate for the rear. I think ideally 22mm front and 24mm rear would be best option. My point I was trying to put across was the 27mm feels fine so I am sure the 24mm would suit your needs. Also get 3 way adjustable, that way you can make it 1 harder or 1 softer if you wish. |
I have a bug eye. ARB upgrades are similar on both these cars.
I have a whiteline kit F/R. Rear is 24mm adj. 22mm is good for daily driving on road. Get the adjustable rear unit and you can dial in the performance vs comfort. I have adjusted mine numerous times. Sometimes I can not live with the hard setting. |
If you want to look through some old posts I think that the recommended fast road set up is a 24mm adjustable rear and a 22mm front fixed.

just wondering is it neccessary to fit the rear arb mounts and drop links aswell, or can you fit an arb and do the rest later?

Can do them later but the OEM drop links are plastic. not sure they would cope that well with the extra stress of the thicker roll bar. No need to do mounts unless you go for a silly bar like mine. (although they are chunky and look good)
Personally think if you are trying to justify the cost I would spend the money on drop links 1st and do the bar later. The metal links have much less flex and that means they will allow the OEM bar to react quicker and will also give an increased benefit. |
I installed a 22mm on the back of mine, are the standard arb's 19 or 20mm? To be honest the car initially probably felt worse as I had 3 badly worn shockers but once I got the coilovers on and the geometry done...
