Rcm headers or ported headers
My goal is about 400-420 bhp would ported headers be okay or would I need rcm spec headers at this level?
|
Generally ported headers are good for around 380 to 400 bhp at which point the benefits of tubular manifolds become apparent.
I used Lateral's GT spec manifold and 3 bolt up pipe when going over 400 and was pleased with the quality and increased performance. |
Tubular ones possibly then
|
At the level you're aiming for RCM (GT spec) headers coupled with the 'Harvey' up-pipe would be of benefit. Don't forget to budget for wrapping headers and up-pipe.
Talk to Aln at ASPerfprmance. JohnD |

I think John was referring to a harvey trick up pipe. That is different to a normal ported up pipe.

Cheers glenn

R the lateral and rcm ones the same or is there any difference?
|
lateral RCM GT spec all the same.
|
Just a word of advice, if you plan on buying the RCM ones then DO NOT buy them direct from RCM.
They are available much cheaper from advanced automotive. http://www.advancedautomotives.com/r...eza-1741-p.asp Same manifold but without the 'RCM TAX'. |
£450 + £80 for fitting kit
|
R the afterburner ones that scoobyworld sell the same or different to the above mentioned?
|
they are ****e.
as said rcm,gt spec or lateral all the same and the best dont bother with anything else. ive got a set under my bed ;) |

And you don't need an £80 fitting kit. |

Old post...however will the car not push 400+ bhp on standard headers
Does Channing the headers make the car sound different? The subaru burble |
No, with the rcm manifold that’s equal length it sounds pretty much the same.
Mid you swap to equal length then yes you loose the burble |
Imo the burble is much pronounced on the std set (having run both).
|
Ported std headers will get 400, but you will need the supporting mods. A very good 2.5" or 3" turbo back etc.

As I have been told 400 - 430bhp is possible with standard headers...as no mapper has mentioned this .. |
