Subaru Alarm on Silent?!

I've got a standard Subaru alarm system on my 2000 UK classic, but it doesn't make any noise when it goes off! Is there anything I can do with the keypad to make it make noise again, or is it buggered?

Maybe the siren is fooked? Do you know where it is? Mine didn't have a factory alarm so I can't help there.

Yeah, the siren is loosely cable tied to a hose on the drivers side of the engine bay. It's not smashed up or anything, but it does swing around a lot. I thought it was probably buggered but thought I'd check to make sure it couldn't be silenced before I bought a new one.

If it's rattling around hanging off a cable tie then it's probably broken a wire or something. Have a look at the wires, maybe you'll find a break and it can be repaired. Secure the siren properly too.

I've had a look but can't find a broken wire. Looks like a new alarm will be needed :-(

surely only a new siren, but your local auto-electrics / alarm fitters may be able to test
