caliper question
think i have a seised caliper as one front bad is realy low and the rest are meaty..
would a normal garage do a while you wait rebuild for me if i got some godspeed alloy pistons? i was going to just stick some new front pads in and see if they ware unevenly (in my experience even pads in sticky calipers still take ages to ware down) as i cant realy have the calipers off the car for days etc what would you suggest? |
Replacing seized pistons is not a while you wait job.
Depending on what caliper they are perhaps you could get a spare set to refurb then put them on your car. This is what I did with my 4 pots as my garage are extremely helpful all I had to do was give them my old calipers. |
I doubt it. The job takes a while. Do you just want one side replaced? Generally it's a good idea to replace all 8 pistons (I'm assuming that you have the WRX 4 pot calipers). I would say 2 hours labour at least. It certainly took me a lot longer than that. The Godspeed set are stainless steel by the way.

this is what i feared! yes there the newage 4 pot breaks. for now im going to stick in a cheap set of euro pads in to stop them destroying what look like decent discs.
both sides would be better but i supose all 4 on the offending side will "do" |
We can supply you reconditioned calipers on an exchange basis , so send a pair out to you , get your garage to swap them over , and return yours back to us for a refund on the deposit , that way you can get them fixed at your garage while you wait , and you don't need to be off the road.
Or you can come to us and we can fit them for you http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psyndgpw2d.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psf67ograq.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...psubqmzicl.jpg We charge £235 a pair exchange Cheers Ian 01656 723060 |
Just had a set of these fitted 28/9/14. I recently fitted the grooved discs and new pads and had a nightmare as the calipers had had it. Pistons siezed and calipers severely corroded so went to Ian @ Godspeed. He suppied refurbished calipers and fitted in only an hour and half.
I have to say...top notch service by top notch people Thanks Kieran |
