I bought a newage STI off Max a few years ago, lovely honest car. He actually pointed out minor imperfections that I hadn't noticed.

I popped up threre to check over a Type R last week, again completely open about the car and its issues, (which were very Minor and few).

IMO Max is to be trusted and normally has a good selection of tasty cars. :thumb:

Tidgy 22 September 2014 08:35 PM

cheers cooky, thats a darn sight more usefull than sarcy comments. sound like its gonna be worth a look at them then.

Maz 22 September 2014 08:35 PM

I've not heard a bad word about them. They've got a good reputation, cars aren't the cheapest but then again peace of mind is worth paying the extra for.

cookstar 22 September 2014 08:38 PM

I'd personally pay a slight premium to buy from them tbh.

I'm gonna stop now, as I sound like a fanboy. :D

fat-thomas 22 September 2014 08:41 PM

Top bloke been there a few times and the cars are decent quality and spec

seventune 22 September 2014 08:43 PM

I bought mine from Max @ Hurst. He is a top bloke. Mine was a '99 2.1 stroker STI 5. Its did have a few issues when I bought it that occurred after the purchase. But you need to be realistic about what your buying. Mine was a tuned motor built in Ireland to around 350/400 hp. To ask Max to put a full warranty on a car that was not built by him would be unreasonable. He did have receipts and full details of the build, parts used, all mods and the details of the tuner in Ireland who built the car. It did however have a few issues that wormed their way out after purchase but where not engine related. It had a few electrical issues and leaky rear shocks. Having said that a couple of the blades on the impeller of the turbo where bent. I spoke to Max about these issues and we did come to an agreement and he did refund some of the cost of the car to cover the cost of the niggles that needed to be sorted out. Couldn't say fairer than that at all. Happy with his service though out the sale and they way in which he dealt with the issues after sale. I'd buy from him again.

Tidgy 22 September 2014 08:52 PM

fair do's, tbh if he is standing by his sales and comign to an agreement to sort issues out then cant do better than that

Deanamoore 22 September 2014 08:52 PM

I bought my bugeye Sti off him 2 years back.havent got a bad word to say an very helpful.i always check what cars he has in.always look very clean an good specs.slightly over priced I am not sure on that.but for peace of mind an a decent example worth a little bit more in my eyes.he has always said if I sold it,he would be interested at buying it back.nice genuine guy

bustaMOVEs 22 September 2014 08:57 PM

Tidgy, you asleep or what?
I've never bought a car from max but going by what I read, I wouldn't hesitate to go buy a car off him.

Tidgy 22 September 2014 08:58 PM

seems to be ok busta, search function didnt seem to give much in the way of definative answers but have em now :)

Luckyscoob 22 September 2014 08:59 PM

There you go, and nice to hear some positive feedback, particularly from people that have actually had dealings with them rather than the usual 'my mates mate ' rubbish. I was going to look at a couple they had before I bought my current blob.

bustaMOVEs 22 September 2014 09:01 PM

I hear Cheshire is better though, and they give free pants with every car :lol1::D

the shreksta 22 September 2014 09:12 PM

I'm contemplating the version 5 sti wagon he has

hodgy0_2 22 September 2014 09:25 PM

Yes that white one could tempt me back to scooby ownership

cookstar 22 September 2014 09:31 PM

I saw that in the metal, and it is very nice indeed.

Moley 22 September 2014 10:30 PM

I've only ever heard good things about them

ScoobyMark. 22 September 2014 10:41 PM

Bought a car from max 2 weeks ago. I've put 500miles on with no issues. I found him genuine and honest.

A trader buying cheap and selling for a profit, Isn't that kind of how it works ?
I'm sure you're not doing what you do as some sort of public service. Just out of interest what would you charge to respray a front bumper on a Blob STI?

He may have offered you less than Cheshire performance but he may well have sold it for less.

How else would a business work Jake ???
If the cars are too expensive then they wouldn't sell, if he's able to get them cheap then fair play to him. He sells alot of cars so he's obviously not that over the top with prices.....

And not sure what you mean by 'no warranty'. Do you mean he doesn't use a third party company to cover the warranty ??
He's a dealer so by law has to offer warranty, that warranty does not have to be via another company.

I've dealt with Max many times. Very pleasant chap and as honest as the day is long.

AndyBaker 23 September 2014 03:56 PM

Bought a type r and my current S202 from Max and as has been mentioned he is as honest as the day is long, both cars have been cracking. Andy

the shreksta 23 September 2014 04:21 PM

money is burning a hole in my pocket, really like that white wagon and the grey type r
