Headlight Bulbs VS Xenon Bulbs?

Hey guys,

Just wondering which bulbs to get as an upgrade on my standard headlight bulbs, as they would be cheaper than getting an xenon kit.

I know they won't be as good as xenon bulbs but I've read that some do a pretty good job at coming close, like these ones...

Can anyone recommend any good bulb upgrades or whether I should just get an xenon kit?

Cheers :thumb:

I've found the Osram Nightbreakers are very good.

Osram Nightbreakers, Philips Extreme, Ring Ultimate 120%, Halfords Ultra Brilliance.

I'd put any of those in before a cheapo HID aftermarket kit.

I have just bought a pair of Osram Nightbreaker Ultimate from Ebay for £10.98p Not used the car at night yet, but look pretty bright in daylight ;)

No quite old bean. This is something I have been looking at quite closely over the last few years due to classic headlights being totally cack.I have tried most of the better quality bulbs around.Yes nighbreakers are good,I recently got a pair of the newish nightbreaker unlimited. The main beams on these are brilliant but the dipped is very scattered & quite disappointing. So I shoved the osrams in my old banger I use for work & got another pair of Philips Xtreme power. These are about a fiver more than the Osrams but imo well worth it.

Osram nightbreakers for me, tried all sorts before settling on these, wouldn't spend my money on anything else

On a classic, Philips Rally 100w, technically not legal, but recommended by the late Harvey

I tried these Ron,Put a 100w Rally in 1 headlight & a Philips Xtreme in tother & they appeared to be equal to Me.Some people recon the 100w is to heavy for the wiring, stories of melting wires & connectors apparently.
Made any new films lately Ron?

There is no replacement for Xenons. All standard bulbs should be banned now there is proper lighting available.

The difference is night and day, and once you've have used Xenons, you wont (and can't) go back. I wouldn't waste money on fancy halogens, halogen is a technology that belongs in the *dark* ages :)

I have since used my Osram Ultimates in the dark and tbh there pretty good. I would recommend them as a decent Halogen bulb :)

Except for one thing, I'd agree.

The classic is H4, and NO HID technology can recreate the beam cutoff and pattern without scatter of a Halogen bulb in H4.
