Classic feel?

I don't know if i'm being over the top here, but now and again my impreza feels weird, can feel a rubble coming from somewhere, feel it though the clutch peddle and abit though gear stick, feels like a gravely feel.

So know if anyone understands what i'm talking about, not sure if in my head or coming from drive train or exhaust

Have you checked the tyres and pressures maybe even any suspension bushings? Best start with simple stuff I suppose.

Its just weird, can't feel it if you don't have your foot on the clutch, almost feels like i've got a flat, but feeling is coming though the clutch pedel. Odd i know, could just be exhaust, or it could of been there all the time and i've only just noticed

Could me many things. Not much help as no easy way to check this but the flywheel might just be a little warped, but again could be many things.

When you say you can feel it with your foot on the clutch is it resting on the pedal or when the pedal's pushed down to change or both?

jaygsi 18 September 2014 11:43 PM

Just when my foot is resting on the peddle.

Very odd, my mind is screaming sell sell lol

ClassicEddie 19 September 2014 03:22 PM

Front wheel bearing? I've got a similar feeling in my Golf albeit its obvoiusly the wheel bearing cos it hums too in line with road speed.

When you say 'when your foot' is resting on the pedal', do you mean when a gear is engaged? So the clutch pedal is all the way up?

If so, never just rest your foot on the pedal as you will be every so slightly be reducing the clutch pressure on the flywheel. This can create 'hot spots' on the flywheel causing the vibrations that you feel.

You need to try and clarify what you mean as it isn't entirely clear.

Is it when you are moving or stationary, in gear or in neutral, cruising speed or full throttle?

When was the clutch last changed? Was the flywheel skimmed?

You see where I am going. :thumb:

If is when a gear is engaged and you are driving along, there will also be a little vibration coming through the pedal. The pedal is connected to the clutch which is connecting the gearbox which is connected to the 4wd system and engine. There are quite a lot of rotating parts in that little lots and the vibration could be coming from anywhere. Have you checked the wheel bearings, tyre pressures, wheel balance etc?

It's normally when just cruising along or going slow though town. In gear just foot slightly touching clutch do it now and again. Will try avoid that now you have said. I've never replaced clutch or skimmed fly wheel.

I'm not sure if it's just because I borrowed someone's car for few weeks and that was ultra smooth that going back to classic feels super rough lol

bustaMOVEs 19 September 2014 11:40 PM

Wheel balancing, bushes etc

jaygsi 20 September 2014 12:14 AM

Will have to get checking, those
