helo people Can you get extras mapping with ESL e.g anti-lag , hi-low boost etc.. on a 94wrx I cant find out for sure...

ossett2k2 16 September 2014 10:25 PM

The last update I heard was the Motorsport package is only available on the v3/4
But Andy Stevens was working on the package for the v1/2. The website has not updated yet to say its out yet but it can't be far off I would imaging. Your best off ringing Andy to see how it's going

S700BYE 16 September 2014 10:35 PM

Thanks.. I msg him waiting for a reply but am getting a map soon and was going to go for esl if it had anti-lag etc...

piehole1983 16 September 2014 10:46 PM

I have it for my 97 UK turbo, sit tight and wait for his reply about the earlier cars. It's well worth the money.

S700BYE 16 September 2014 10:51 PM

hummm hes got 1week lol thanks . do you no what the difference is between ESL and Alcatek ? like why is there such a price difference

piehole1983 16 September 2014 11:02 PM

Honestly, I don't know the answer to that. I think the price difference could come from the fact that ESL is an add on board to the OEM ECU. Andy has reverse engineered what JECS designed and built. He's been able to crack their code as it were and has made it possible to read and modify it accordingly.

As for the other standalone ECU's, the respective manufacturers have had to design and build the whole thing from scratch which would create colossal costs from the word go. Not that I'm taking away from Andy and his brother, they're very clever guys and they've done an amazing job and should be rewarded for it. Personally, the extra (retained) features you get by using ESL made my mind up. Other ECU's don't have the majority of these functions. I think the only thing ESL can't do (yet) is AVCS control.

S700BYE 16 September 2014 11:09 PM

nice. I do want ESL hope he replies saying it can get ASL . thanks for the reply helps loads:thumb::thumb:

piehole1983 16 September 2014 11:12 PM

S700BYE 16 September 2014 11:18 PM

lol will do

tweaks 17 September 2014 04:54 PM

He's very busy yes, always gets back to you as soon as possible though.
Anti-lag/launch control/flat shift etc. Isn't available as yet for the v1-2 but it's definitely not been forgotten about and hopefully not the only other intresting features esl may have to offer.

Switchable maps and mafless will do for now :)
And then AL and FFS FOR later when updated.

tweaks 17 September 2014 08:32 PM

Indeed, a/l l/c are hardly a necessity for most cases.

True, but it's good to have LC for when you're in a giddy mood at the lights.
AL is not worth it in the long run IMO.

S700BYE 17 September 2014 09:40 PM

I think im going to go with ESL. just to clarify I can NOT get A/L or L/C but I can get a Switchable map and go mafless. is a switchable map hi-low boost?? and what advantages are there going mafless ?? thanks for all the advice

tweaks 17 September 2014 11:28 PM

Correct, anti-lag, launch control features are NOT available yet (on 92-96)as it will be an optional upgrade.
An advantage of going mafless is being able to do away with either 1) the maf as a restriction 2) the maf as a commonly failing part (depending on year).

That's actually 2 doh.:D

Tim

tweaks 17 September 2014 11:31 PM

2 separate full maps, could be used for boost.
Could be used for v-power only on one, v-power+meth mix on 2nd.

nice made my mind up thanks for all the advice and help :D

Andy Stevens 19 September 2014 09:46 AM

We are in the finishing stages of the 99/00 build at the mo which represents the vast bulk of our enquiries these days. As soon as that is done, porting over the msport build to the 92/6 should be fairly quick. There are loads of 92/6 ESL ECUs out there so it makes sense for us to continue to support and upgrade them. It will happen, but as a 2 man band you can probably appreciate our workload is pretty high.

S700BYE 19 September 2014 10:11 AM

thanks for the reply helps loads :) a used to think ESL was done buy a big company with loads of staff (like apple) lol thats some impressive/clever work you and your brother have done :thumb::thumb:

Andy Stevens 19 September 2014 10:21 AM

:) fair to say we aren't quite on the same scale as Apple, but thanks, the aim was always to bring useful features in at a reasonable price and I hope we have we have brought a smile to the face of many a Subaru owner.

S700BYE 19 September 2014 11:02 AM

u have achieved that :D after I spoke to a few people the decider was easy you get a lot for money and save alot going for ESL. il just get the extras mapt wen ther out :D
