which maf

Hi guys I'm needing a new maf(rough idle running rich on idle sound like running on 3) reset ecu it idles fine till the check engine comes up then idles lumpy, what maf should be on my car, it's a 1997 wrx import, 1s ecu vf22 yellow injectors coil pack in the center of manifold, currently it's got a orange label and at 400£ I don't wana order the wrong one, cheers guys

piehole1983 07 September 2014 10:29 AM

It would nearly be cheaper to go ESL and MAFless!

ossett2k2 07 September 2014 10:39 AM

Mine is 1997 version 3 wrx ra and has the orange label maf

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 09:56 PM

Gone over every pipe vac, boost inlet intercooler checked all clamps and cable tied everything tight reset ecu wen for a 10 min drive no check engine with was good, there was no codes, took her out just now and it's behaving alot better boosting up nice I didn't hold boost on as am waiting for my wideband afr gauge, then she'll be going for a health check in subaru, what boost should I be getting I saw it go over 15psi I let off as didn't wanna brake anything lol I think she's fragile (I've done alot of work on it myself),
So,what is stock boost in psi please for 1997 wrx jdm 1s ecu vf22 yellow injectors,

Pie funny you should say that I've got a Esl waiting to be bought as soon as matey is read to sell it month or 2 time so nodoubt Il be asking for your advise on somethings as you've been through it learning it and that, I'm planning on sending it in to esl hq and have a Base map for my put is on a running car with diff spec to mine, on and go from there

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 09:58 PM

What boost numbers do you get osset, are you running standard ecu if so what code is it:thumb:

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 09:59 PM

Don't think I need a new maf now :) Il wait till my mech at subee had it in there

ossett2k2 07 September 2014 10:29 PM

Running 1.1bar standard with 6s ecu
Vf22 with yellow 440's

ossett2k2 07 September 2014 10:30 PM

Where are you buying your wideband afr kit from mate? I am looking for a good deal on one before I go ESL

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 10:47 PM

How may plug is your ecu 3 or 4, I've got a v2 sti cdb so I'm assuming I could use same ecu as you? My 1s is used in the 97 sti wagon mines same spec as you then, what exhaust I've got decat up 3"decat downpipe 2.5 pdrive center and back box, what would that be in psi, think it's 14 psi to 1 bar, swear I see 18 psi on mine which is worrying me, I'm in middle of making a a boost leak tester if I can find a way of pumping smoke it too it would be pucker,at mo I'm gona pressure up and use soapy spray to see if any leaks, I'm getting a luminention set from a mates cossie, it's oldschool but easy to read and it will work off existing lamba on narrowband or on its own lamba witch I'm going to do, I think demon tweeks sell them, I know where there's a full AEM wideband system digital display they sell for 280 but this one's 146 ish that's what I was going to get but my mate sold me his dirt cheap and I've got a spare lamba just need to get a extra boss welded in my downpipe

piehole1983 07 September 2014 10:53 PM

I'm sure Andy Stevens would email you a standard base map for the ECU that you have. I only have a base map for the 8S ECU. Adjusting things in small steps is the key, costs a fortune in fuel though lol. Don't be using narrow band for AFRs, defo get the wideband sensor. I bought a stainless boss off eBay for mine and welded it in to my downpipe myself.

Is the ESL your getting already being used in another car?

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 11:09 PM

Yea mate running a forged engine and maf less can't remember what power he's running but it's healthy and mapped by jgm he did say he had trouble with the 1st mapper he had but I'm not going into that as it's not my place to say anything, obviously the esl is mapped to a diff spec to mine I'd want it reset to my Base before I even think about fitting it, it's not available for me to buy for a month or 2 it's guaranteed mine though so I'm happy to wait,
And the feul Yea lol she's thirsty just poodling about let alone burning up the same road 10 times adjusting things haha that's if I grow the balls to start adjusting things myself, what do you use for data logging or is it all on the esl system

ossett2k2 07 September 2014 11:09 PM

3 pin ecu. Standard cat downpipe,to a 3" fujitsubo Regis which has another cat in the center and resonator near the backbox. Too many cats for my liking!!
18 psi is 1.24 bar
I will probably go for an innotive wideband at around 150

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 11:12 PM

I'd have to take my downpipe somewhere I've only got a vintage stick welder lol I have a family member who can do it for me for free just have to take the pipe and boss there, and Yea wide band all the way

piehole1983 07 September 2014 11:12 PM

I use data logs from both ESL and my Zeitronix ZT-2. Makes things easier and can actually watch the logs live when I'm in the car. I've even had 2 laptops plugged in at the same time lol!

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 11:13 PM

Oss have a look at the video I pmd you think the AEM a proper peice of kit logs stuff plenty of features only downside is it looks a bit like a apexi fc controller

*matthewturb2000* 07 September 2014 11:15 PM

Il have a bit of reashearch on the zt2, it's always good to see things in real time, where do you keep these laptops when your driving haha

piehole1983 08 September 2014 12:13 AM

They usually end up falling off the passenger seat and slide around the floor lol.

ZT2 is an awesome piece of kit, I highly recommend. I have the LCD display for it too which shows me real time AFR, fuel pressure, boost pressure and EGT. I can select what I want on the screen too. I'm gonna swap out the boost pressure for oil pressure on screen soon though. I already have an Apexi boost gauge near the pillar anyway.

piehole1983 08 September 2014 12:14 AM

I can also set up alarms on it that will trigger if something like oil pressure drops, boost is too high or AFR's are too high.

*matthewturb2000* 08 September 2014 12:36 AM

I got boost, oil pressure, oil temp, batt voltage (to fill a hole) charge intake temp, knock link then the luminention in couple days, that my gauges all analogue part from the knock link and act
