I think this looks great, what's your thoughts?

Despite the hairdresser image attached to these it's a lovely looking car and I bet it will be great to drive.

Just got to hope it comes with a 2l turbo engine :D

dpb 04 September 2014 01:35 PM

Could be BMW from the side

Sad Weevil 04 September 2014 01:53 PM

Looks quite good in the photos. It weighs around 1150kg, still too much IMO. It has electric pas. Ugh. Engine has 14:1 cr and low co2. No power figures yet. A lot harder to de-hairdresser than earlier ones. Don't think I'll be upgrading from my analogue mk1, not that I could afford to anyway...

Matteeboy 04 September 2014 02:05 PM

Bloody hell, that looks lovely! Sort of F type rear 3/4 and profile with a nice front end too.

I bet that'll be a hoot to drive - electric PAS is sadly a necessary "evil" of modern cars but the better systems are usually fairly direct and you do get used to them. Bad ones are horrific.

SkyActiv - WTF is it with all these gimmick names that manufacturers seem to invent nowadays.

ditchmyster 04 September 2014 02:32 PM

Looks a bit like an S2000 to me.

scooby87 04 September 2014 02:34 PM

If that gets a turbo I will have no choice but to buy one despite the hairdresser stigma attached.

It is rumoured that it will be turbocharged though I expect so as to comply with emissions gheyness rather than for outright power. Expect a 1.4 or maybe 1.6 engine.

joe v3sti 04 September 2014 04:18 PM

1.6 with a disco potato sounds good to me :)

pslewis 04 September 2014 08:14 PM

Amazing cars these MX5's ..... had a mint MK1 until last October when I sold it and bought a MK3.5 Kendo SE and I absolutely love it - utterly, utterly, fantastic cars.

And this, at £20k, is going to take the world by storm ...... the hairdresser jibes are now just spouted by half-wits and those troubled by their lack of manhood.

Nope, it's way better looking than that.

That's almost as nice a looking car as my SL. Almost ;)

pslewis 04 September 2014 09:22 PM

Front - GT86

Rear - Z4

Side - Corvette Stingray

It can't lose ...... £20k is pocket money

bustaMOVEs 04 September 2014 09:25 PM

Looks cool for once.

Rear is F type not Z4, the Z4's rear is an abortion!

That's what I thought too. Quite like it.

Gear Head 04 September 2014 09:41 PM

Definitely looks like a Z4 from the side profile. Never a bad thing in my opinion.

That, is going to be one awesome motor.

The only thing in common that your ageing SL has with an MX5 is its either driven by gays, hairdressers or women going through a mid life crisis :thumb:

Z4; nice looking.
Z3; horrific pile of car turd.

Fabioso 05 September 2014 10:46 PM

I really like that new design! If it drives as good as it looks and has a bit more ooomph over the previous incarnations then Mazda will be onto a winner!

Look forward to the reviews :thumb:

Apart from the Kendo, I am turning into Pete. Pass the drugs!

Must agree though, any real car enthusiast will know all about the Nixer, what it's about and how true it's stayed to it's remit.

It's the base for the new Alfa too.

lozgti1 11 September 2014 09:26 PM

Thought Alfa Romeo and Mazda were going to do a joint venture but Alfa version might be shelved.|Even more stunning!

Mx5's are great though.Would have bought Alfas version :-( will have to save for a 4C

Oh....didn't notice you'd pointed it out:D

lozgti1 28 January 2015 08:58 AM

Wish Alfa would make their minds up.

Now talking about doing it on their own in house and calling it a Spider Abarth....as a Fiat

They would have sold shed loads as an Alfa

ScoobyJawa 28 January 2015 06:52 PM

I've thought it looked great ever since I saw the first pics ages ago. Needs a decent engine this time though.........

bioforger 28 January 2015 06:55 PM

It has to handle well as the demographic buying it will be women!
