Hi guys, not currently a scooby owner :( but saving for 1, I was after a classic turbo but after seeing a 2001(bug eye I think? ) really want of those now, I just missed 1 that sold silly cheap :( but ill keep looking, hope to become a regular here :)

Welcome to the forum :) Test drive both, classics are a lot more focused and feel raw compared to a more refined new age, they are very different cars.

I do like them both but prefer the bug wagon to the classic, my friend has a classic saloon, still wouldnt say no but currently only have £1200 to spend, at least until the weekend, ill keep searching :)

I own a bug wagon but still lust for a classic. My dads got a v2 RA and it ten times more fun to drive. But not a chance in hell you could use it daily. IMO wrx wagon is a good balance between fun n practical and considerable cheaper to insure. Holds it's own on most things you'll encounter.

I have only had classics, 2 saloons and 2 wagons. Both are great but wagons can be more practical if you need the space. The good think is there both pretty much as powerful as each other and the looks on peoples faces when an estate p155's all over them is pretty cool :D lol
I also like the classic as it cheaper to tax :thumb:
£1200 you could get a classic, might be a bit of a dog though. Just keep your eyes peeled :)

I've had a classic and own a Bug STi now. Both are good cars, just different - a bit like Coke and Pepsi :lol1:

haha been let down on the first, but now found a classic wagon to go look at :) hope i get 1 soon, otherwise my 300zx will get the money instead

Classic wagons are a good choice in my opinion

why is the insurance on an import so much more than a UK car? surely there is no real major difference? playfair you have a message

In my case the insurance wasn't really much more, £20 I think.
There is a lot of differences between the uk and jdm stuff. Jdm cars are far superior in my opinion. Totally different animal

The insurance difference n my jdm 300zx is not much difference to the uk spec, but it seems theres almost £900 difference on a scooby between uk and jdm ( for me that is) a uk classic wagon would be perfect but finding 1 close ish to me is proving difficult

who are you getting quotes with? I don't think Gary (Moley) charges much more for imports.

just using confused.com at the minute, im 26 with 1ncb and an insurance claim so i know my quotes will not be great to begin with, but hastings premier for a uk turbo wagon is £650 but cheapest import wagon quote is £1600 ? it doesnt help much that at the minute i prefer to pay monthly

Give Moley at keith michaels a call and see what he quotes you on different vehicles.

Shop around for quotes as some companies are pretty much the same in prices.
Try Chris Knott. I'm with them and tbh there pretty bloody good, but they wont be the same for all.

UK cars are a group 17 insurance and imports are group 20. Not much between groups but each group has different groups (so to speak) in each.
For an example on UK and import, UK cars are roughly 215bhp and imports are roughly 260bhp, So a few bhp is what makes the difference :(
