New York
I'm going to New York this weekend. We're doing all the usual sight seeing things but can anyone recommend any traditional bars and steakhouses to go to(Not Posh)? We're staying near Time Square.

If you don't get one then you will need to apply to the Embassy and explain your case. Regrettably you can sometimes get through the visa and be stopped in the USA airport only to be sent home (rare but not unheard of ) |

Times Square was full of "vice" when I was there. ( 1986)

There is no such thing as cheap food in NYC, but avoid the street vendors. Don't ask how I know.
The prices can be a bit :cuckoo: at times. We got stung a couple of times - worst was a Chinese place we went too and it cost us about $60 for a fairly simple takeaway for 2 people. Great place though, demand for tables will be high on Friday and Saturday - a lot of people have this week off in the US. HTH! |
a few people i know have been turned back when arriving in good old USA due to convictions you can apply with esta to see if they give you a visa i wouldnt chance it

Virgils in Times Square if you like BBQ style, large portions (do not order the train wreck fries as a starter if you want a main course...)
There's a bar called Smiths, working-man type of place, we used to go there for a cheap brekky. |

Maceys has a bar serving food in the basement. Monster size homemade burgers ,if that's your thing.....
Spent a few hours in there whilst the ladies shopped till they dropped..... Enjoy. as said there are countless eateries all over. |

jeez, you are thick
I have posted the link to the AMerican Embassy - but no, you would rather ask some idiot on car from and "Why should my kids miss out on something due to my actions years ago" ask the bloke on the end of the phone at the Embassy, they make the fvcking rules then stop whinging and teach your kids actions have consequences - fvck me |
....
And mamoon2 , thanks for the pm, much appreciated. |
Well we're here, so far portions are small IMHO(and I'm not a big eater) didn't have a great start, lost my mobile between the airport and the hotel. More to follow.
