Hi all.

New to the forum. Always fancied a scooby (getting a bit bored of my civic type r) and I think the time Is edging nearer!😀

Thinking along the lines of a blob eye sti, possibly PPP if I can find one.

What's the dos and don'ts with regards to fuel, 99 Ron vs 95 Ron etc as the nearest v-power garage is 22 miles away and although I would only be using the car on weekends and the odd night there always empty when you go to them!

Would it do any harm putting the odd drop of 'normal' fuel in till I'm passing somewhere with 99 Ron?

Regarding fuel i would never put 95 ron in unless i was stuck out miles away and had a can of octane booster in my boot ( always carry one anyway in case ) otherwise it's tesco 99 or shell v power nothing else for me im afraid :thumb:

I May be wrong , but if you get the car ecutek mapped then I think there can be a 99 octane map and a extra lower octane map added so you can switch between the two.

You should be able to get the usual "super" 98Ron nearby....You don't have to use 99RON (unless the car has been specifically re-mapped to use it).

All depends what the car has been mapped on in the first place.i wouldn't put anything except v power in mine.thats what it's mapped on so that is what it has.nothing stopping u from getting a jerry can extra every time you go an keeping it at home.

I'm in the same boat as the OP regards V Power and my car is mapped for it - I'm about 30 miles away from the nearest petrol station selling it. I keep a big steel Jerry can full at home and top up the car with that so the car is always nearly full. Everytime I pass the V-Power petrol station, if the Jerry Can is empty, I take it with me and fill it up...

General rule for subaru cars is. 98+ ron for turbo and and 95+ for non turbo like impreza gx. With wrx sti it actually specifies 98+ on fuel cap. Ruling out bp I think as its 97+

I keep 20 litres jerry can in the house and 5 litres in Boot both Tescos 99Ron Momentum.

Something I read on another forum a long time ago... If you leave fuel for a while it degrades and the RON level can drop... Thus the fuel from a fresh delivery to the petrol station is the best stuff to use... This would be especially true if you are storing it in jerry cans!

Yes. Thats why you dont want to store fuel in jerry cans for extended perions. I rotate fuel in cans at least once a month. And Xline if you have standard non turbo then morrisons is on. But if you have turbo version all im gonna say expect massive repair bills in future. Good luck to you. Im not taking chances my 03 type uk prodrive sti is too expensive to be taking chances. I think There is only Shell and Tescos that have fuel above 98 ron recommended by Subaru. Do correct me if im wrong.
