Leave it alone.

Main reason I'm saying it is that you've got doubts yourself.

It's not that difficult to sell a car on behalf of someone.
The owner will have made arrangements to cater for this.

The V5 has to be signed by the reg'd keeper anyway on purchase, so if they can't do that stay well clear - before you part with anything.

The fact that you are asking the question is enough to walk away. I'm guessing that it is cheap?

Is the car available to view ??
You obviously wouldn't part with any money until you had viewed the car.

If you can see the car, see the logbook and history file in person etc etc then I can't see a problem.

Can't see how the scam would work.
Who would pay for a car without seeing it in the flesh......

You'd be surprised, around half of the cars we sell are via the Internet and paid for in advance. They even pay us to deliver the car before seeing it. Obviously were not scam artist's but there is a lot of these scams about atm.
