Hi all, after selling my classic around two years ago, I have returned to the scooby side of things with a version 7 jdm sti.

The car entered the uk in around 2004 with about 3900 miles on the clock. In Japan it was a subaru demo/show car

It has had 4 uk owners, one being a garage.

I picked up the car with 48000 miles on, and so far have done around 400 miles.

The very first thing I done to the car was give it a oil and filter change, as I do this with all my cars, and it is a bit of a habit.

As it was due on age for a cambelt change, but no where near the miles, I thought it would best be on the safe side of things and get it changed.

Tim Farmer (subbus) aka ex zen and top bloke, fitted a full timing belt kit with all the rollers and tensioner, changed the gearbox and rear diff oil.



The car is all most standard, mods are..

- TSL pulse extraction exhaust with a sports cat
- whiteline roll centre steer kit
- alloy radiator
- cosworth panel filter

I have fitted so far
- vta bov
- hella supertones.

Things that I have got planned for it are..
- walbro fuel pump
- remap
- a small boot lip spoiler to replace the standard one.
- lowering springs

Hi all

next thing on the to do list was to lose the arch gap.

I picked up a set of HSD dualtech coilovers.

I stpipped all the rings and other bits off, cleaned all down and greases up with white lithium grease.
The only problem I had was with the bottom locking rings on the two rear struts. I cut them off and ordered new rings.

Once they had arrived, I set the pre tension for the spring and put them all back together.

When fitting I had a problem with the bolts that hold the shock onto the hub as they had been done up by some unnatural force.
I tried plusgas, but that did not work, So I got some heat onto the nuts and that worked.

I got a set of extended adjusters for the rear also

Next to do is get the tracking etc done and I also might buy some coilover socks to help protect them more

I went out for a short drive to see if anything rubbed, and all was fine.

Compared to the standard shocks and springs, they are a less crashy ride and I would say they take the bumps and holes in the road with more comfort. I have got them all set to the softest setting so far.

Thank you, i'm going to keep the standard ones for now, I have seen a silver bug with white works emotions on, and it looked very good, so might do a white wheel in the future

Whatever you decide on personally I'd make sure you choose a rim size that'll fit the car without the need of arch rolling, be such a shame to that to such a nice example. :thumb: Keep up the good work.

next up is a set of coilover socks.

if there are parts of the threaded shock left on show, I am going to wrap them tight with the gaffer tape.

On the rear strut, I covered the thread in waterproof gaffer tape over the top of the white lithium grease, this is to help keep the grease in and the rubbish off. then the cover over the rest of it.

I got some of this Japanese car wax the other day. It is called Fusso Soft99

I have the car a wash with autoglym, polished with AG super resin polish, then went over with the wax.

I saw it on the detailing world forum

I had the scoob on the rollers today to get a bench mark to see what is what before I change anything.

Also the boost needs to be controlled better, again a remap should sort this out.

Lets say a remap is needed (was on the cards to be done anyway) as it is over fueling like a mofo!!

next couple of mods in the pipeline is a jdm boot lip spoiler. just got to get the lip and boot sprayed.

do i fix the spoiler first to the boot then paint, or paint both on there own then fix to boot?

I used to love the big spoilers on Scoobies, but my tastes are changing, think I would go the same spoiler route as you if I had a saloon, one reason why I got a wagon...

I thought I saw this car a while back in Norwich driving, I have my spec c mapped and maintain by Clive atthowe ( highly recommend )

Looking forward to see the spoiler on ;)

I was on a rolling road day at Clives, So might of been then.

I do like the spoilerless/lip spoiler look. i went that way also with my old classic

Think it was then, who you getting to map it?

Any other plans after the spoiler ?

I am getting a new clutch, have got a skimmed flywheel ready. Normally Zen does my mapping.

There is another small rear window lip that I like from the states, so might add that to the list

some new bits turned up today
