Ok, i've worked out that the mystery car down my road is actually a Mazda, not a Toyota Celica (from the tax disc, should have thought of that before).
But still, never seen one of these before. The badge on the front is a sort of V, difficult to explain. Says V6 Quadcam down the side. It's a two door coupe, but not a very inspiring shape.
But anybody know more than that about these things? It certainly sounds ok, in a big exhaust on a V6 sort of way, but is it any good?

I think the Xedos 9 was a quadcam V6 and in later life gained a Miller cycle engine. Super-smoothy

If it has a 'v' badge, it is a Eunos. If it's a Eunos 30X, then it is a Jap spec MX-3. That car is fitted with a 1.8 litre V6 (quad cams & 24 valves of course).
They never had a 323 coupe, the nearest is a 3-dr hatch. That V6 is only offered in the Mazda Lantis (323F) & is available in both 4-dr & 5-dr guises.

But getting that confused with a celica?

What age was it? Only thing I can think of is couple of months ago I saw a 626 fastback or something in the autotrader. Cant remember the age off hand, but it was kind of a coupe shape, not seen before, didnt look like a normal 626 or MX6, and it said it had a 2.5 or something V6 engine in it.

Cant see how you could confuse a 323 or mx3 with a celica.

Mazda made a series of cars that used the 2.5 V6 for the consumption of their domestic market. All are based on the Cronos (626). They are badged as Autozam, Mazda, Eunos or Enfini.
As for the 1.8 V6, only the MX-3 & the Lantis used it.

It's definitely a Eunos. The sad thing is (why am i admitting this?) is that it says Eunos on the steering wheel boss, but i thought that was the name of the steering wheel manufacturer, as i'd never heard of a car by that name before. Berk i know.

R1916v - i didn't actually get it confused with a Celica - i originally thought it was a Celica because it said Celica Motors in the rear screen on a sticker, and there's nothing anywhere else on the car to say what it was, so i put 2 and 2 together and got 5. Berk i know (again).

But why would anyone want to specifically want to own one of these things? Getting spares and panels must be a nightmare, and it's not as if it looks anything special either. Looks like a bland kit car to me...

Sometimes ppl do not care what car it is, all they care is that they look nice & is cheap (that's y I frequently see cars such as Toyota Tercel or Toyota Carina ED on streets of London).
I don't think parts are hard to obtain for the Eunos, as body panels are the same as Mazda MX-3. Engine parts may be harder to obtain, but there are lots of companies in the UK willing to do business, as long as u're prepared wait.
I myself would be happy to drive around in a Nissan Bluebird SSS-X Turbo, or a Toyota Chaser Tourer V.
