Music festivals

Are they still fun when its pi55ing down? I'm taking my daughter and her best friend to a mini festival in York but if it starts chucking it down are they still fun to be at? I have bought tents which are best for rain so that's not an issue but what's its like when your in the fray watching the bands :D

Erm I never been to a festival when it rains , it rained at Isle of Wight one morning but I was still pissed from night before so fell asleep again and woke up to sunshine

Cheap ponchos are a good buy , loads of bin bags as they are good for everything

Keep some emergency clothes in the cAr is a good idea

If you get the weather they can be the best weekends fun going, if you don't get the weather fcuking well forget it, unless you enjoy being wet and walking around up to your knees in mud.

stevebt 08 August 2014 09:02 PM

Its a small festival (Galtres ) so I don't think the mud will be too bad if it rains? and as for poncho's I was going to take a golf umbrella for me and who cares about my daughter and her mate :D

RA Dunk 08 August 2014 09:12 PM

Even though it might not get muddy your still going to end up wet and wetness brings cold and misery, end of the day it's your call, I've done T-in the park in the wet before and cancelled it every year afterwards if it was going to be wet.

stevebt 08 August 2014 09:15 PM

One of my mates was at T in the park this year and said it was fantastic and the weather was scorchio :) He booked it last year but as with this thing you can't know the weather till our there :)

My eldest daughter went to the Secret Garden Party, last week and had 4 days of warm weather and sunshine

She is now at Board Master in Cornwall - I suspect the weather is sub-optimal

A bit of pot luck I think

Don't get me wrong if you get the sun there's nothing better than lying around on the grass half pished listening to your favourite bands, but if you get the rain you won't even be able to lie around on the grass, infact you can't even sit anywhere because everything wet, so your standing all bloody day lol.

Just get a poncho, wellies and something to sit on and you'll be fine.

Had a bit of rain at sonisphere but either side of that day it was 27c so it wasn't too bad.
Rained at Download too but we just went down the front to the barrier and you get that squashed you either don't notice it, or, all the bodies protects you from the rain!!

Been at creamfields and V and it's been cold and pissing down, it's annoying but if you've got a waterproof coat or poncho over you it doesn't really matter.

I was at Galtres last year and will be again this year. It's a very family oriented festival - make sure you've topped up your g-card.

You'll need a good torch, if you're in the bottom camping area go straight on and not take an obvious turn right when you arrive. That camping area was a flaming nightmare as no one knew about the one straight on past the food / beer area.

Galtres has lots of small stages all over, the silent disco is something you have to see to believe.

Take wet wipes... for the love of God take wet wipes - the showers cost extra and you'll need flip flops to use them. The site is pretty good and open (not huge) but the main stage was quite a trek to and from. There is a Facebook site with loads of info including a page on what to take - some very good advice on there

hodgy0_2 11 August 2014 06:28 PM

You could not pay me to go to a music festival, but one thing would tempt me, and that is the silent disco
Especially one where you choose your music
