running in boost? advice please

Hello people, I've got a fresh rebuild engine I've just put in my car (97wrx import) is it "safe" to run aculator pressure for the first 4/500 miles or just have it standard setup? Thanks guys

I ran no boost for 1st 300 miles, no more than 0.2 bar for 300 miles then no more than 0.4bar for remaining 400 miles and at no point did I exceed 4000rpm, plenty of engine breaking and b road driving

Yes. This is how I was advised to run my Zen lump in by the Man himself.

You can do it all in one go as long as you are up and down the gears constantly and plenty of engine breaking to bed the rings in

(very much doubt anyone could though! lol)

I done my 1000 miles in 5 days (it was bloody hard work!!!)

When I bought my bugeye in 2002 I did my 1000 miles in a week easily. Worked out a nice little circuit with town driving and some dual carriageway driving. Kept to below 3000 for first 500 then below 4000 till 1000 miles done. On the dual carriageway did run it up from 1500 all the way to 4000 a few times in 6th. Then after the 1000 mile service I upped the RPM by 500 for every 100 miles covered.

I'm having other problems 1 was a twist and kink in the feul line inlet then it started straight away which was good, ran it for about 5 seconds was making a noise unknown to my ears which was not so good, got my mechanic coming this week sometime to have a look, I'm gutted at the mo :(

have u changed the piston rings? if not run in is quicker. you might just have a bit of piston slap (fine) or check belts.

I ran 0.5 bar on the first day,but only at low revs, Kinda a mix of motorman's run in method about keeping pressure on the rings. Still burning no oil after 2000km
