106 Rallye
I bought this s1 from a member on the rallye forum a couple of months ago. I travelled down to Wales to view and took it home on the same day.
16v'd but still with the original 1.3 box and excellent bodywork. I drove it back and had my first issue on the way home. Car was running like **** and wouldn't rev beyond 4k which turned out to be a broken crank sensor plug. After a clean up under the bonnet; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psuujwwd3s.jpg All was well with the car until this happened; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pspttg0nd2.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psi3iit9ac.jpg Left me with numerous suspension issues and front wing and door screwed. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pshcfkyahy.jpg With the help of mark from frenchsport tuning we managed to get on with the repairs straight away and have ended up replacing a large number of suspension parts; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ps3tsuthhb.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psododuokl.jpg The wing is still screwed and after trying (in vain) to buy a black one from a seller on here, I have had to settle on a different s1 wing which I will paint and seal on the arch. Since owning my red s1 on bodies, I have always wanted to have another. I saw this car on saxp and decided that it would be a good donor for the engine as it'd had some serious money spent on it; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ps6cykbr3r.jpg After a lot of messing about I eventually made the trip down to the big smoke and bought it. Here's a pic on the way back; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psxgp4jnb8.jpg And one after a wash at home; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pspvovhgfm.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psg2hdarjo.jpg Spec of the engine was; 106 gti engine Forged pistons At bodies 182 injectors Emerald ecu Rebuilt vts box with quaiffe LSD Mapped at pug1off where it made 181bhp ATF http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pswjx1ehin.jpg The original plan was to break the saxo but the shell was in surprisingly good condition so the decision was made to swap the engine and box from the sax with the engine and a spare vts box. Engine out of the saxo; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psaebkswnv.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psjsmo8bkz.jpg Engine out of the rallye; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psj1xsm8k6.jpg Also had some issues with the s1 box so that was sent off to be looked at as well; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...ps1ikiqvqr.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psnv68rwzn.jpg Original rallye engine put in the saxo; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psozlg1b5z.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psqhipldgv.jpg Saxo all cleaned up and sold to the first viewer; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psmmhrm2ki.jpg Saxo engine now in the rallye; http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psaoxb9tzr.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...pso9wmywur.jpg http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y15...psovrdifir.jpg And that's where I am now. The car runs great and is just epic to drive! |

Love these, bought one new in 1994 and was an absolute blast, begged to be thrashed at all times. 7K RPM in 5th on my private runway.

Top hatch! Those AT Power throttle bodies are good bits of kit. Very expensive but good kit. Suit FWD hatches well as you don't struggle with huge boost spikes and wheel spin. Seems to have repaired up well. I've got a 205GTI with Mi16 conversion due in at the end of the year as something to tinker with. Peugeot have always been my fave of the French offerings. The 205 and 106 have aged well tbh.

I like old school Peugeots, I used to have 2x 205 GTis.
How did the driveshaft come out in the first place? |
Previous owner used incorrect pinch bolt.
|
I used to have a red 106 Rallye and absolutely loved it until the gearbox explode shifting into second on Xmas morning. Then a few months later I lent it to a friend who then crashed it. Would love another as a run around..
|
We all know it is a great car because it featured in Clarkson's Hot 100
|
I also had 2 of these, white and black. Bloody awesome cars and would have another tomorrow if i could fit in it lol.
|
I had one of these on an M plate in white, standard and brilliant!
|
Still got this. Now stripped out running one seat.

So i may have taken this little car out for a hoon at the weekend. It went rather well :)
Bwwwaaarrrpppp! |
The 205 1.9 gti for me was the best hot hatch out the box, back in 1990 it's was a proper quick well sorted car. Love the Rallye though great hot hatch and I bet great fun to drive.

Anyone knows of one please let me know! Been watching this interesting project thread on DW of a 106 GTi, worth a look if you got a hour or two spare:thumb: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=339208 |
