Have just fitted the Samco intercooler hoses to my MY99 and noticed that the old hoses were quite oily.Didn't know if this was anything to worry about?

Not a concern.

They all do that....
Not just Scoobies either... Must reduce the cooling of the intercooler though... JGM :) |
Get an oil catch tank - I have finally got one.
The Mocal ones are really cute - but there is now where to fit them under the bonnet... ...mine is inside the wing and it is starting to fill up! BTW it attaches to the crankcase breathers and captures oil/oil vapour instead of it going back through the induction. Trout :D |
trout, can you give us some info on these????
Pics, prices. |
Dodge,
I got mine from demon tweeks - there are loads - I reckon between £40-140 depending on how flash you want it to look. I bought a really good looking one - and now it is under the wing - doh! Allow another £10-30 for connectors and stuff. After an initial rush of oil - a change to Motul 15/50 has significantly slowed the filling - and this after some very hard track miles yesterday :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Trout :D |
could you give me a list (offline if you wish) of all the stuff I would need to make my own setup.
Would be much appreciated. Dodge. |
One oil catch tank - work out where you are going to put it and then find one from DT that fits - the gap behind the rad - next to battery will fit a 'coke' can shaped tank.
About 3m of 0.5in hose - I am using heater hose - you can be flash and get steel braided - especially if it is going near the turbo. I did it with two half in connectors - it depends how you want to set it up. There are two inputs to the induction hose - pre-turbo - that will need blanking off. You will also need to blank of the PCV input which is beneath the intercooler - it feeds directly into the inlet manifold. That and loads of hose clips is all you need! Trout :D |
could be the oil seals inside the turbo itself that is causing the oil in your pipes, also check the plenum as well, that too may be coated with some oil...do you notice any smoke on start up?
