rota grind 18" 8.5j

hi guys, ive bought a set of used rota grids 18" 8.5j with an offset of et44

just checking these will fit before i spend the money on refurbing, im going for 235 40 18 tyres. i trial fitted an alloy on the rear this evening and its very close to the shock (about 8mm clearance). do i need spacers or should this be ok?

I was going to suggest just take it for a drive but sounds like you don't have any tyres on it.

Failing that, you could put a block of wood under the Rota wheel to make up the gap of the tyre, carefully lower the jack until the car is at normal ride height and then feel round the back to gauge the clearance.

If its tight you could space it out a bit, but add the spacer width on to the face of the wheel rim with your tape measure and see if its going to contact the arch.

I don't think 235 section tyres should be a problem as they would be 'stretched' across a 8.5" rim, so your tyre would probably not be overhanging your wheel rim, i have some 235 slicks on 8.5 rims and they are stretched.

You'll have to get the tape out and just measure it up and make sure its going to fit before you go to far with refurbing

thanks for the reply, i did put some wood under the alloy and put the car on the floor and it was fine, i will have to check one on the front, looks like ill be ok then!
