Transfer window is already open for players from european leagues, English window officially opens July 1st and they close on Sept 1st at 5 or 6pm this year.

Although you've read that Milner, Ings and Depay have all "signed" with their respective new clubs you wont see any pics of them in shirts until at least July 1st because none of them have been ratified and wont be until July 1st.

Still seems stupid to me the window is open whilst the new season is underway, open it on the Monday after the season finishes and close it on the Thursday before the season starts.

The Season starts on the 8th August this year so we will have 24 days where the window is open during the season which ultimately distracts certain players who are having protracted negotiations (anyone Daniel Levy is selling normally) and affects the team they currently play for.

Should that not be left to those clubs to manage appropriately though rather than shortening the window just to eliminate that possibility?

If clubs can't get their business done before the start of the season, it's their own fault(s) for being distracted for that period - the clubs as much as the individual player, that is.

You can also argue the selling club will dig their heals in and drag it out, Daniel Levy has a masters in it :)

True, true.

However, I would argue (in my overly simplistic view of business :D) that the buying club places their offer and if Levy or anyone else wants to drag it out then leave them to it - a take it or leave it kind of affair. If the buying club is willing to entertain the antics of the selling club, they're just as deserving of the distraction they've bought upon themselves as each other.

I appreciate this isn't how it works in the real world, I just have no sympathy. :lol1:
