Impreza uk turbo upgrades
I've been searching for old threads but can't find anything, i'm looking to upgrade my UK turbo, as i only use it as a summer car so want it to be more impressive for the short time i drive it
At moment i have, Japspeed manifold, Ninja sports cat, Powerflow 3" cat back, Subaru pro R filter I'm guessing i need, new fuel pump, Injectors, Esl ecu, hoping with those mods and a remap, i'm hoping i would be able to get to 280bhp Question is which fuel pump? Injectors? And would i need a upgraded turbo? Thanks |
If you are only after 280bhp and your injectors are yellow they will max out about 340-360 bhp where there running 100% dc Yellows Im pretty sure there 440cc.Fuel pump should be ok as it is,Clutch should also be ok with the power.Im told the td04 runs out of puff at 290bhp and very few have seen 300bhp with supported mods.I don't no if you have the td04 or td05 on yours.I think the upgrade after that is a VF turbo or even a td06
|
what year is ur car? u can get 280bhp on a td04 with a remap, esl is available on 97-98 and ecutek on later. 97-98 have 380cc injectors, grey and 99 - 00 have 440s, yellows.
|
Its a 1998 uk turbo, i think i have the td04
So why do the 99-00 have the 440 injectors if same bhp? |
For some reason the later versions did have yellows .
The standard td04 turbo runs out and I got 264 bhp from Standard everything . Part fromair filter and fuel pump Wanted more so I put 3" exhaust with sports cat Yellow injectors Vf28 turbo And got 310 bhp |
Think someone on here claimed they got 300bhp off sightly modified low mile engine
Which phase 440 injectors would i need |
phase 1 or 2?
|
I would say a 2000 model because I have a 2000 forester with yellows.Ive seen a lot with td04s getting 280-290 with supported mods and map

440's 255 fuel pump Full de-cat exhaust Decent panel filter Pfr7b plugs ESL map. That'll see somewhere around the 280 mark and make a nice road car. |
Ok cheers Matty, i'm sticking to 100 cell sports cat, but yes wanting a nice road car, my WRX was a beast but sold it years back as wasn't a spec looks wise as my Uk turbo
Got new panel filter Going to buy NGK Pfr7b So just phase 1 440's and 255 fuel pump, then ESL, remap and away :top: |

Of modifications, or if thats the route i should go

You already have 440s, your injectors will be yellow, only pre-96 were 380s.
If your intercooler is standard it will limit output. A FMIC will give in the order of a 10% power increase. A cheap upgrade would be a td05-16g or in tank meth. |
Hi Andy will the td05 be a direct fit?
And my injectors are grey bud

Grey injectors are 380's.
TD05 will bolt straight on but you'll need to find one (or do it yourself) that has been converted to front entry. 16G is a good turbo and with the right supporting mods will see circa 320bhp pretty easily. Front mount is a good shout but for what your aiming for I'd look at a newage WRX top mount. Larger than your current cooler and can be picked up for peanuts these days. |

I'm fairly sure the UK cars didn't get 440's until 99 Andy.
However, 97/98 was a bit of an odd time with things crossing over. |

My mates old MY97 UK Turbo had 440's as standard, IIRC. :thumb:

The terzo came with 380's and that was a 97 car for instance.

Newage STI ones make circa £150, you'll pick up a WRX one for a third of that.

Depends what your budget is doesn't it. But your not after big power and a newage WRX one will be a nice upgrade for you and easily cope with what you want it to. |
