Fecking Jealous Barstewards !!!!!!!!!

Some feck has keyed my scoob passenger side from the rear quarter to the front door in tescos this evening, was only in there 30 mins as well ! CCTV wasnt pointing the way to cover my car space so thats that avenue gone !

Anyhoo, anyone ever had keyed scratches repaired and if so, expensive ? They go down to the metal and wont buff or polish out

Reason i ask, i can buy 2 doors for around £70 same colour , that then just leaves rear quarter to get repaired and im thinking it will be the cheaper option to go down to get all repaired.

cheers

Sorry to hear that, it's becoming more commonplace in my experience. Had my Merc vandalised last year. Sickening when you come back to it and see it isn't it?

FWIW I would not bother getting two 'matching' doors as there is a chance the colour may have faded slightly on either yours or the doors and they won't quite match. then there is the hassle of removing them and reinstalling etc.

A decent bodyshop won't charge the earth to paint the doors and the quarter panel and should get it all blended so it looks spot on.

Hope you get it sorted soon!

The Rig 10 June 2014 11:19 PM

Cheers for the input bud, it is sickening, only the other day i was getting the micky taken out of me for parking far away, being so particular where i leave it etc, so today, thought id park normally and this is the result, grrr !

i hear what your saying about colour fade, luckily mine isnt a metalic colour so doesnt fade as such, for the whole repair from what ive been looking at its going to be around £300 and the thought of a bodyshop fills me with dredd, the last time many yrs ago i had overspray on the alloys etc

Hmm, decisions LOL

As above finding the correct colour shouldn't be too hard but the shades are another story. I would get it painted at a bodyshop, just explain your concerns to the bodyshop and I'm sure they would take extra care. Had mine done on a past Bmw, I ended up painting the side myself, lucky I was a sprayer at the time so apart from some time it didn't cost to much but I would expect £300-£400 for a side. Unless you wanted to save some cash and strip the trims, clean the paintwork, start to flat the paintwork with scotch bright

Cheers, theres a chipsaway bodyshop near me so might pop along to them in my lunch and see how much my heart sinks lol

Ah feck, if you'd been Manchester way I could personally recommend a very good bodyshop who don't charge the earth and certainly won't get overspray on your alloys etc.

The Rig 10 June 2014 11:47 PM

Always the way lol

Thats the thing with bodyshops etc, you only know how good they are after the jobs been done.

True, but ask around for local places and look for online reviews of them. Better still you may find someone who has had work done there and you can chat with them first. Take your time and find the best place.

Not too far from you (1 hr's drive or so).

A local business has a very good reputation.
Mate (very picky) always had them do his pride and joy and on his recommendation I had them colour-match my stiffies.

Very impressed with the results.
I'll be contacting them when the time comes to remove the stonechips.

I can ask them for a rough quote (ie. getting rid of keyed marks) if you want.

It's worth the money getting the 2 doors and the rear arch sprayed, also get the front arch blended in so it all looks the same colour. regardless how good the colour match is, it'll never be 100% spot on so its worth blending.

If the money's an issue at the moment than why not do a quick cover up till you can get a proper job. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...5580_langId_-1

I'm from Gloucester and never had any troubles with my cars in car parks, maybe I've just been lucky. Which Tesco was it? The only Tesco I use is the one next to the biggest B&Q. What Subaru do you drive?

Carnut 11 June 2014 11:08 AM

I think the problem with subaru's is they stick out like a sore thumb and people can hold a grudge if you have cut them up or exploited your power to get in front. Most cars blend in to the back round but everyone knows that loud car with the big wing that drives round the town/village.

Ahhh fair enough, I rarely visit that side of Gloucester so I doubt I'll see you. If I do though I'm in the unmolested silver classic UK Turbo 2000 with standard 5 spoke silver wheels..

Ellie* 12 June 2014 12:37 AM

I had the exact same thing done to mine. Down the passenger side from rear panal to front door and down to the metal.

Been quoted £500 to do all 3 panels.

The Rig 12 June 2014 12:56 AM

Ouch, £500

well, that's that avenue discarded then lol, looks like 2 doors for £100 delivered it is and fingers crossed they match lol then will figure out how to repair the quarter panel.

The chipsaway guy said it was beyond his equipment as it requires like above a respray of the whole side of car

we must of annoyed the same jealous git
