Beware Tanyard Motors Worseley Manchester

I need to warn people off visiting Tanyard after what happened to me today.

I went to view a car there after seeing it on Autotrader. When I got there I was slightly paranoid as it was set back on a dodgy looking street. I parked up though and went in. All the cars were inside in like a warehouse type building. I went to reception and asked to view the car. Immediately I was cautious as he wouldn't give me the keys but chose to unlock it and keep them. He had no interest in helping me or even being courteous. It was like I was inconveniencing him. I soon found out why!

I must of spent 20 minutes looking round the car inside and out and by now I obviously wanted to start her up. I approached the guy to ask if I could have the key and see the missing service book etc. He didn't even turn round from making his brew! He replied, back facing me, telling me that someone was on their way to buy it soon. This obviously got my back up and I sarcastically replied "I wish you'd have told me that before I spent time looking round it!" and walked out.

That was a bit of a mistake. I was quickly followed by this guy and another appeared out of nowhere. Both were right behind me, intimating me, telling me to "F off out of here"! I was pretty much escorted from the place! It was all an unsettling experience as I genuinely thought I was gonna be jumped from behind. I got in my vehicle, locking it ASAP and drove off fuming!

I want to do something about this. I'm not being threatened to leave a bloody used car garage. I don't want anyone else to experience this either. After I got home earlier I did a quick search on the place and it appears other have also been told to "F off" down the phone.

What's the best way to tackle this guys?

Not sure where you can go with this. You weren't physically assaulted and you aren't out of pocket.

Think the best you could go for is threatening behavior, but you will need to involve the police for that!

To be honest as wrong as it seems may be best to chalk it up to experience and get on with your life!

Mouser 09 June 2014 02:19 PM

Do nothing except warn others of your experience at this garage. Your word against theirs.

bustaMOVEs 09 June 2014 02:37 PM

Put their phone number on every website like, sex sites, gay sites etc so they get a lot of nuisance calls.
Seem like proper pricks.

You can look at public order offences - such as section 5 (threatening behaviour)
Although if you were on your own, its going to be at least 2 words against one

The other to view it, the police may have had a number of similar complaints and this may be enough to pursue a prosecution or for them to install covert cameras

Seems an odd way to run a business. I can understand them not giving you the keys (I wouldn't either) but to abuse a would be customer is a little odd.
The only reviews I can find for them are positive though.

mamoon2 09 June 2014 03:45 PM

This thread will now come up whenever anyone searches for them on google. So, I think you may have done your bit.

nathanb 09 June 2014 03:46 PM

Cheers for the advice fellas. I've calmed down now. As you say, I'll advise others against going there. Here is the other negativity I found.

I went to look at a car a couple of months ago, wasn't impressed to say the least. car had bits missing, it was full of dust, the aluminium trim around one window was all bumpy like someone had tried to get behind it with a screwdriver..

car was a white clio 197.. think its still there

I just think you had a lucky escape in not buying a car from them, folks that need two of them and give it the billy big bollax don't worry me, (and i'm not trying to sound like a hero) if they were going to do something to you then you probably wouldn't see it coming, barking dogs and all that, obviously just full of p!ss and wind.;)

Leave em to it I say, they'll fcuk with the wrong person one day. :thumb:

scunnered 10 June 2014 02:21 PM

They don't seem to be interested in selling cars, so perhaps it might be a money laundering front for something sinister.

Make sure you ring Autotrader and let them know asap so it doesn't happen to anyone else - 0161 669 9888

I'd have been mighty tempted to leave a big key mark along the entire side of the car, then leave. Would have served the arrogant pr1ck right

This is true ditch.... I had a friend who was / is a trader....worst cars ever is all he sold , clocked/ringers/on the list , always lied through his teeth just to get the £'s.
One day he's sat in his office 10+ CCTV cameras all over , biker pulls up , walks in and BANG.....claw hammer straight to his forehead .
Biker calmly got back on his bike (no number plate) and rides off...

What goes around.........

+1 very good idea:thumb: you can also report them from the site maybe where the car is advertised. Its ultimately your decisions but I think you could be doing others a good deed by reporting them.

CrisPDuk 11 June 2014 10:31 AM

They are known in these parts, the general impression seems to be that they are a front for some shady Manc gangsta types :Suspiciou

I live 5 mins walk from them but never knew they were there.

tom-r33 11 June 2014 12:09 PM

Claw hammer to the forehead seems abit extreme!

Sounds like a money laundering scheme from where I'm sitting! I wonder how well their accounts tie up....

Yeah maybe......I could be wrong but there are no signs/advertising or cars for sale on the road to indicate that they are there. :cuckoo:

Are they really? They did strike me as wannabe gangsters! Maybe they do need a visit from the police!

I spotted a M3 for sale there the other week before I bought the Scoob, looks like I had a lucky escape. I rang up twice about the car and both times they were really vague about its service history etc. I also googled them and spotted that a few people had had bad experiences there so in the end decided against it

Just a word or warning here. A mate of mine did this when he had a fall out with his employer. He got prosecuted under the Malicious Communications Act and just narrowly avoided jail time. He got 240 hours community service.
