A brief History

It comes with great upset and regret that after only 2 years of owning it I now have to sell my beloved impreza. I have been “Forced” into this position given the arrival of my son, which of course I am overjoyed with, however, my wife has told me that apparently spending money on my car is no longer a priority.

I have owned the car since August 2012, after selling my classic I decided the next car I would get would be a JDM blobeye, I was not interested in the UK spec equivalent and spent 8 months researching the market EVERYDAY!

Eventually after months of viewings and spending countless hours trailing the internet I came across an absolute beauty! Interestingly the car was never advertised as being for sale, I stumbled across a thread from a website in Ireland (RMS really mean sounds) where the owner was talking about his new impreza and how we missed out on buying it when he first saw it advertised but subsequently rushed in to buy it when it again became available… this thread was a few months old when I came across it.

I emailed the owner and told him that what he had was EXACTLY what I was after, an unmolested mint example JDM blobeye in arguably the most desirable colour. Initially the owner was uninterested in selling the car and I left it with him to contact me in the future if he ever decided the time was right to sell it. I continued looking but found nothing that compared.

Unexpectedly the owner contacted me 6 weeks later and we started negotiating a potential sale as he had now decided to sell up and put the money towards his other project (Mk2 escort track car).

We agreed a price and I straight away booked a flight over to Ireland with my brother to go and see the car.

The car was mint, exactly as advertised and absolutely stunning in the flesh.

Historically the car was first imported into Ireland by Ian Litchfield, a great endorsement indicating the cars quality!

The car was bought and I was given a box folder filled with receipts, again a true indication that the car had been loved and taken care of. Even receipts for each oil change are included!

Since owning the car no expense has been spared, the car has been constantly maintained to the highest standard, both my dad and brother are experienced mechanics and have worked on Subarus for many years, without them I’d never have been able to afford having this car.

The car has done less than 10k miles since August 2012, I keep it SORN off the road and garaged over the winter months, the cars only really driven 6 months of the year and normally on a Friday/Saturday only when the weathers nice.

I regularly wash/polish and wax the car to ensure it always looks as stunning as it should, the paintwork is immaculate for its age and really stands apart from any other impreza on the road with the gold fleck, in the sun you get hints of Gold/Purple and green… it truly is a stunning colour.

Last year alone I spent approx. £4k alone in cosmetic modifications including brand new Rotas + rubber/coilovers/charge speed bonnet/front bumper respray, not to mention treating the car to brand new discs and pads to compliment the refurbed callipers.

The car when bought came with a set of Defi gauges which was great, anyone who is serious about these cars and understands how important the maintenance is will realise the benefit of having such accurate instruments included.

One last thing to point out is that the car produces a sound that can only be described as orgasmic. I thought I would miss having that Scooby burble… but NO! The equal length headers create a deep rich rumble which combined with the longer gear ratios can only be compared to an evo or more so a superbike, it’s a truly sensational sound especially when the car is sufficiently warmed up, on route home I have 2 choice f where I turn off, the longer option has a ¾ mile length tunnel on route…. Which do you think I take!?!

Bad points

The car although having had a front bumper respray last year does have a few stone chips as expected. There are a handful of very small dings which are hardly noticeable most likely from shopping trolleys or other people opening their doors on the car (Grrrrrr), these were actually all here when I bought the car and have never really bothered me enough to spend the money getting them sorted.

Frustratingly, I got slight kurbing on one of the alloys last week, but that’s shown in the pictures.

I have tried to be as honest as possible, I strongly recommended any interested parties come and view the car to see exactly what’s on offer.

Other than this there’s not much more I can say about the car, its brought me much joy and has always put a smile on my face, I cannot park up anywhere and walk away without turning around at least once to look at it, I honestly believe you will not find a better example and well spec’d JDM blobeye on the market.

I believe based on the above I am fair in asking for offers close to £11,495.

Test drives will be conducted by me, unless an insurance certificate is produced covering the test driver for fully comp.

Before anyone slates the asking price... there're other 2003 JDM's on the market from the usual traders going for £9,995 and you're welcome to buy them.

But if you would prefer to buy a 2003 JDM from a private seller and know the seller is making a loss, not profit, then here you go.

Plus this has modest mods and no engine molestation... so I'm happy to wait for a genuine Scooby lover to spot this gem rather than let it go to a random unappreciative bod.

This car needs a good home and a new owner that will love it, not abuse it. Anything less is criminal.

I remember seeing this on the fueltopia toy run last year, it's stunning. I was talking to the owner for quite a while before we left Ace cafe, nice guy. Shame it's got to go but needs must!

GLWTS.

fluoxetinejunky 29 May 2014 09:30 PM

I am truly gutted to be selling up, it's brought me a great deal of pleasure and I want it to go to another good home!

In answer to the previous question about importing over from Ireland it was Northern Ireland so aside for the obvious ferry charges etc it didn't cost a thing :thumb:

Oh, and I'll still be at this years toy run when it comes around, il be the one in the ford C-max! :lol1:

alex_00s 30 May 2014 09:09 AM

It took all day getting this car, flying to Ireland early doors and then the 7hr drive back... but so worth it!

Sometimes you just gotta do mad missions to get exactly what you want.

The pictures dont do this car justice either, honestly its a thing of beauty and has such road presence. I wish I could buy it and keep it in the family.

We both only wish that it goes to a good home and is treated with continued love.

alex_00s 30 May 2014 12:26 PM

Update

I've just come in to some money and my sincere apologies to the guy thats paid the deposit on this car. You will of course receive a full refund of the deposit immediately.

Under no other circumstance would a gentlemans agreement be broken, but blood is thicker than water and anyone would always put family first no matter what.

Happy to say this car is now mine and no longer for sale.

I bought that bonnet about 5yrs ago, got it shipped over from Japan. Took 4months to get delivered. In the meantime I wrote my car off so the bonnet has been sitting in my back garden shed all this time. It was only when my bro got this car that I gave him the bonnet to put to good use :)

b3nmw 09 June 2014 08:47 PM

That's 1 mean looking car

Well if your Brother would like somebody else to put it to good use, you have a buyer here!

Failing that, would you mind sending me a link to where you got it from, I can only find a carbon version

Cheers

Yeh a little it only had one invoice and stamp during its time in England with Graham goode and I thought if it had more I would've snatched it off the guy. He's into his detailing and looked after the car pretty well.

Really sorry mate but it was so many years ago I cant recal where I got it from... I have no reciept for it and all I can tell you is that it was direct from Japan. They did both carbon and FRP at the time... maybe they only deal in carbon now?

I also got a Charge Speed rear wing around the same time... unfortunately that arrived b4 the bonnet so ended up being fitted to the car which flipped on it roof so totalled the rear wing :(
