Side vents

Can I asks my bonnet vents when looking out them they have a plate under the bonnet . With 4 bolts holding them in. is it worth me undoing the under plate to let more air in or will that just let in rain water and mess the engine up. Any help.
Not the top vent the side ones

Not a problem when the car is moving but if your car is parked outside over night a lot of water can get in, not a big problem if using standard air box but I wouldn't like a load if water soaking into a cone filter... Afm might not like it too much :)

They should be winged nuts on them so can remove and re fit easily

I wouldn't do it....too much water ingress.

It's got a normal air box but its a J&R air filter. Just like u say when it's parked up I don't want to have water coming in plus my alarm is near the vent. Would it help being in more air or is the air flow would not be that much so not worth doing . What do u think . I have seen some that have the vent on the driver side shaped like the top one , would that be better. As my car has the flat vents . Please take a look at my car and let me no . Thank u for all your help

In the summer i ltook mine off, they are for letting hot air out not cold air in.

Is it worth get the one that is shaped to face the font ways like the top vent .

Only if you live in a hot country and have an induction kit. Rain would kill your engine in no time getting sucked through the maf.

It's sound like that Subaru put covers under the bonnet for a reason. So I may just leave it . Think that may be the best way . Thank u to all if u for your help . It's us nice to no there r owners out there that will all ways help u . Thank u

Do a search on here or google and theres a writeup saying the plates need to be on, the engine gets cooler with them in place, something to do with the drag inside the bonnet at speed etc
