Remove fuel pump with firewall in place?

Need to change the fuel pump on my 4 door classic.

Will I have to remove my aluminium firewall in order to work the pump assembly from the hole?

Not sure as mine doesn't have one. But lift the carpet and look at the cover which is held down with four screws. If you can get to that then you should be able to get the pump out.

Can get to the cover ok but I wasn't sure if the assembly will then come out without fouling the firewall which is where the upright of the rear seats used to be.

Thanks. I've seen that guide and I have removed a pump before.
My problem is that the seat folded down in that car. I cannot remember, if when having to rotate the pump assembly to get it out the tank, whether it would foul my firewall or not. It's not possible to tell from the guides.

I didn't want to start the job and then abandon half way through to take the firewall out. Removing and replacing my firewall is right pain in the ar*e and will make the job half a day rather than half an hour.
