A friend of mine has bought a rolled new (01)WRX to rebuild.Majority of the work is done but it requires a new seat belt 'cos the old material was jammed in the door and was just cut through when the car was stripped of it 's Recaro's etc .The mechanism etc is therefore perfect, any one have a source for seat belt material / strap as a new assembly complete is £300 'ish.

Podger,

I had belts rewebbed a few years ago by -

Quickfit Safety Belt Service

Tel: 0181 206 0101.

It was a while ago and I don't know if the above number is still valid but they gave a good service and will also check out the reels etc. (mine were fraying and were for a 240Z so new ones unavailable). HTH

Raymond.

Raymond Thanks for the information I'll pass it on ,and if it's still valid I'll confirm it.

Dave TS , read the post who's bodging it !! I just need the information to help a pal , if you can't be constructive don't post .

I read the post. If the question is who can fit a new strap professionally and securely to the existing mechanism, fair enough - except that isn't what you posted.......

If someone is rebuilding a virtually new car and isn't prepared to spend £300 on a new seat belt - a vital safety item - that may save the next poor owner (which hopefully won't be anyone on this BBS) from going through the windscreen if the existing one is repaired, then I call that a bodge...

Would you buy a written off car if you knew it had a repaired rather than replaced seat belt?
