Cooling issue HELP !!
I just flushed out the coolant on my 04 sti , I removed the pipe from the thermostat and drained the coolant that way , after putting it all back together the fans won't come on at the radiator, they will come on if I turn the ac on but not on there own , temp gauge inside the car isn't going above normal working temp but things are just too hot under the good for the fans not to be kicking in , any help greatly appriated

Have you measured coolant temp??. It may be as simple as its not hot enough.
No I haven't this night sound stupid but the pipes going into the radiator are pumping hot, took car out for a run to get her properly warmed , still the temp gauge inside the car stayed normal but fans never came on
All pipes on top of radiator are pumping hot but the lower one which goes into the thermostat isn't hot at all

Sounds like an air lock. Did you backfill the sytem via the rear header hose? How have you bled the system?
how do you bleed the system?
sorry to hijack but i wanted to do a coolant change in next few weeks |
I've tried to bleed the system by letting the car warm up , then opening the top radiator valve and squeezing the pipes, excuse my ignorance I'm no expert in any of this lol
No known way to bleed a Scoob system, sorry.
some MAY work, but the best way is to drain, start again and fill without airlocking. Lost count of the number of times I've posted how to do that this year, so won't do it again now, besides, I'm poorly;) |
Do need to get it looked at fans not cutting in is a problem . And u shod no when it's hot under the bonnet for the fans to come in . Get it looked at ASAP or could cost more £
Think it's a leak from the bottem radiator pipe - not keeping the pressure , can hear it hissing when I squeeze the pipe , looks like it's a flush and refill all over again :((((((( lol
Do a search for how to fill properly.
