iphone 4 minor water damage
Unfortunately my iphone was placed on a wet bench top and water migrated into the cover and to a lesser degree into the phone.
Dried the phone up as best as I could and then stuck in a bag of rice for a couple of days. Turned on and not good. I purchased a pentalobe screwdriver and opened the back up - No water inside and moisture sensors not activated. Removed battery and left in sun to dry out any remaining moisture . Reassembled and booted up . Apple logo displays. Now HELLO Select language-Done Select country-Done ok now connect to itunes Double click on home button emergency call and keyborad displays-cancel this Open itunes connected to itunes get error message - THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOUR IPHONE If there is water damage why does the display and keyboard function ? Next Enter recovery mode -Hold down power button and home button for 10seconds -then release power , and continue holding down home button until reboot. itunes message - RESTORE IPHONE Restore and update proceeding iphone display indicates progress during restoration iphone restored to factory settings with no issues iphone detected by itunes accessing istore Then MESSAGE - THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH YOU IPHONE. Come full circle. My question is - If there is internal damage ,is it likely that the display would work and a complete restore can be achieved ? I suspect its a software issue . |
Stick it in a ziplock bag with some silica gel packs and place in the airing cupboard for a couple of days.
Likely there is still some moisture shorting somewhere. |
