Is this price realistic?

Can these cars in this condition really command these prices?

Poormans Type R at the end of the day ;)

As they say, it's worth what someone will pay for it. If someone wants a v low mileage P1, then they might be prepared to pay that premium (I use the word premium politely). It IS a v rare find in all fairness.

Personally, I think it's hopelessly optimistic. It's worth half that on a very good day!

powerwrx 12 April 2014 11:18 PM

a p1 for 22b money... hmmmm decisions ,decisions.

bmw730i 12 April 2014 11:20 PM

Is that a dent/damage on the o/s rear quarter?

I know this is sacrilege to some, but I wouldn't even pay that money for a 22b!!!

But as said: it's worth what it's worth to someone who wants it! :thumb:

Cars worth that much money " Declared Sorn " clearly not loved enough to drive it like it was designed to be driven.

This ^^ Also agree about the 22B the only reason i'd ever have one over a Type R is that it's a safe place to put £25k in a weekend car.

Kwik 13 April 2014 07:12 AM

There was a chap on facebook last night sick of getting stupid offers on his 2.1 strokered P1. He had it up for £7.5k and was getting silly offers of £3k so wanted someone to take it off his hands for £6k.

In essence, the one linked will never sell for that, not even half. I'm not even convinced they are more rare than Type R's.

53 is right pal. Anyone who knows anything about Subarus and doesn't own a P1 will tell you that a P1 is a Type R with all the good bits removed. :thumb:

P1's up until recently have commanded a premium over Type R's but they seem to be around the same price these days.

Kevmc76 13 April 2014 08:36 AM

What's the good bits?

Adjustable diff, much closer ratio gearbox and no ABS. :thumb:

ditchmyster 13 April 2014 08:48 AM

And the all important rear wiper.:lol1:

Yeah but those days are long gone now the cat's out the bag.:thumb:

Kevmc76 13 April 2014 08:51 AM

Each to there own buddie no really a selling point to me, in the long run the p1 will be worth more.

Plus I'd much rather have a freshly imported Type R over a P1 due to the lack of rust issues.
Never really liked the P1 anyway.

No it won't. For the true enthusiast, everyone knows that the Type R is a 'purer' Impreza. The P1 is not a bad car by any means, pretty much the same as an import sti saloon bar the 2 extra doors.

But I guess you are the expert.

Kevmc76 13 April 2014 09:01 AM

Never said I was a expert just that everyone is different.

I doubt it, as in the future it will only be true enthusiasts that are interested in these cars and they will know the Type R was the original and best.;) The only reasons the price of P1's held high was dealer support for UK car and insurance for imports being expensive as well as a lot of people not knowing about the Type R, but once they became 10yrs old and no import duty more people got to know about them and availability increased the price of P1's fell to it's true worth.;) in fact they are quite often less than Type R's these days and can be had for £4k. It's only the P1 fan boys / dreamers that think they're worth a premium.

Still a good car and I have nothing against them just saying it how it is.:thumb:

ditchmyster 13 April 2014 09:06 AM

Lol, gear head beat me to it, but does prove the point of those in the know.:D

Kwik 13 April 2014 09:10 AM

Just browsing EBay the other day I was surprised to see almost as many p1's for sale as there were Type r's.

AWG 13 April 2014 02:08 PM

Maybe it's got Flappybird installed on it :Whatever_

LUCKO 13 April 2014 05:26 PM

surely if you want top money for a top car why the hell would you advertise it on Gumtree for all the muggles to waste your time

£20k car = premium Auto Trader Pistoheads advert :)

They are both good cars and best looking out of all the impreza range, I was tempted towards the type r but in the end I bought a p1 with I might say rear wiper but not with adjustable diff but then I don't think I would use it I would probably end up breaking it, the price you ask for your car is never going to be the price someone will pay am a Cnut when it comes to buying cars always looking for the best price but 20k is a bitty far fetched

Ah, you own a P1. Didn't mean to offend. Have you been into Imprezas for long? I've been around them for over 10 years now and since my fist car was an import sti 4 saloon, I have always thought the Type R to be the ultimate (affordable) Impreza.

Don't take it to heart fella. :thumb:

It (DCCD) was a gimmick to me, but honestly since having it I wouldn't have a different Impreza without missing it. I've never driven a P1 so wouldn't like to pass comment in a vs sense, but the prices some P1's owners seem to ask seem too much when you look at what the P1 has to offer compared to the Type R. The only real answer i've ever seen is that they are limited compared to the Type R.
